Oh how gaming isn't what is used to be.

Just find it very irritating that every time I turn on my console it has to update itself. Every time I put in a game, it has to update, every time I want to use an app, it has to update. Not to mention how you can't even use the POS unless it has internet.
Couldn't even watch a blu ray because the app had to be updated... Are you effing serious? Just so sad what gaming has become. Nothing but waiting for updates and microtransactions.

Just a pointless rant as I sit here, waiting for my console to update, after I had to update it last night and the morning before. Hell, I bet once it's done updating I'll have to update Halo too, a game that just came out. I love how games not only need
to be installed onto the HDD regardless of having a disk, but how every game needs to be updated before the install. Like seriously? Game hasn't even been out a day and it needs updates right away? What happen to being able to pop a game in a play? And this
is just a rant on updates... I could go on and on, on how *** the console itself is. I'm already on my third *** one. Disks wont read, an update bricked my limited edition controller, game saves disappearing, lag and freeze times not to mention games just
up and close out in mid game. Console is pure trash, Microsoft is trash and everything that has to do with gaming is just trash now. Not a single company can sit back and make a well made, quality machine. They'd rather make a POS and charge you half a grand
for it, then charge you 60 dollars for 40% of a game and make you pay for the rest in DLC.... WHAT. A. ***. JOKE.!!!

Small tip,if. you don't want any updates,just unplug you console from internet.....Like "the. good old days"....No internet,no updates.

 

No your right gaming is much better nowadays, consoles in instant on mode, cant remember the last time I saw an update, I walk in say "Xbox on" then say "Xbox go to Metal Gear Solid" and im playing instantly with no load screens from exactly where I left
off before I said "Xbox go to Netflix" Its the future its superseded garlic bread....

 

If your console isn't set to instant on mode, you're doing it wrong.

Tell that to thr makers of cod they been putting out the same game for 10 years

 

I leave mine in standby mode and allow it to update while it's not in use which maybe you should consider

 

Updating a new game is annoying I'll admit, but at least it doesn't take long. I do not have my system set to instant on because i unplug it after each use. I do have a fair bit of updates, but I don't mind because I chose not to plug it in.

You say everytime you turn the console on it updates? Are you in the preview programme? Sounds like it because unless I'm the odd one out, I don't have to update my console every time I use it.

To be honest though, I don't really mind updates, whether they be for the console or games! Start it up, go off and make a cuppa, they don't take too long.

I bet a few here remember systems like the Spectrum 48k, now that required patience! Put the tape in, wait 10 minutes, sometimes more for it to load. Sometimes it would crash and you had to start all over. Those were the days

 

The only thing I miss is when buying a new game and being able to just insert the disc and play it straight away without any installing, updating and downloading any bonus DLC.

 

doesnt really bother me, rarely have to wait for an update with the console on instant on, always used to install my games to hdd on the 360 too from when that feature came available.

 

My console was bricked when I left it in standby mode before because the internet or something went out when it was doing an "update". So, that don't work and I can't use it offline cause some games wont play where I last left off in game and apps won't
work.
