Offline Play and No play

Hi peoples, So on Saturday I turn on the XB1 for some quick gaming while I was mass downloading on my PC. I decided to play offline and Said no when the Xb1 asked if I wanted to update. So I start up Powerstar golf for some quick rounds, everything was
locked. Couldn't open any of the courses and subsequently dashboarded. Tried Crimson Dragon and all I got was "Do you own this game", Basically the games for gold all said this. In short, It doesn't seem that I could play any digital games offline, ones I've
bought and G4G. This is reminiscent of "Always online". My only option would have been to update and stay online, this is not going to be easy for allot of people in different countries.

Holy crap! An ancient thread from before the xbox one was released. Actually, reading through it, not much has changed in the whinging content on this forum lately. Haha!

Guerrero, under that situation, the Neo is not for you, as is, unless something changes.

 

I think you have to physically pull the Ethernet cable( if thats how you are connected) to get it to revert to local saves,even if you select offline. Haven't tried myself. Been connected since launch. i should experiment and see.

 

Yeah it's really quite weird Rippen, In all honesty I can just go online and play. I just didn't want to wait for the update and was downloading allot of "stuff" on my pc and other consoles. But it really got me thinking about countries with worse internet
then here and limited download space. Just wanted a quick Powerstar bash

 

Yea if you have disc it will play. They need to fix that, the Xbox 360 you can play downloaded games.

 

Haven't tried the free games yet, but Forza 5, Tomb Raider, and Killer Instinct, all work offline.

Several months ago my internet was down and I played the same game (Powerstar Golf) without being online. I had to go thru several pop up screens/warnings about not being online, but was able to play. Didn't pull the cable before-hand either. Maybe the software
has changed since then?

 

There's 2 reasons why I think this isn't working for the OP (and could potentially be both):

1) Any GwG games you have must be played online because XBL needs to recognize that you "own" the game and/or a Gold subscription (a limitation of the GwG promotion).

2) Powerstar Golf recently reverted to a free-to-play model; due to this change, the game may have also been turned into an online-only game as well.

 

^ Dude, ya know you're probably right. Powerstar was bought by me but everything locked? So the license has changed I guess, Sneaky

 

Still if you paid for the game it should be able to be played either way on your Home Console.

 

Hey rippen, Updated all my games last night and switched on Pstar golf, Got a free canyon course and all was unlocked again.

I'm going for Platinum on Dark souls, this is the only reason I haven't been on XB1 except for Titanfall. Just mentioning this as my activities are blank.

 

Well that is good news, I still think that you should be able to play offline. I only ever once had a problem like that. It was on my 360 with trials HD. I took my HDD off mine and took it to father inlaws in QLD and connected to his 360. It would not let
me play until I connected to the net to verify my GT with it. I could play it all day long not connected on my own 360. I feel it should be the same on your own X1
