Thanks for reaching out to the Forums Community for advice how to get around this error that you're dealing with offline. I can definitely see how not being able to play without being connected to the internet could be concerning. If you're getting this
again and again, it might be that something needs to be updated, be it the console or whatever game that you're trying to play. I would suggest checking to see if you do in fact have the latest update by following the steps outlined in Updating
your Xbox One console.

If everything does come up current but you're still experiencing this problem, I would suggest a soft factory reset while the console is connected to the internet. It's a factory reset of your console that does not uninstall any game or app. While the console
is connected to the internet (with an open NAT type as well), make sure that you have all the sign in information for your accounts (as they will need to be redownloaded) follow the steps on How
to reset your console to factory defaults on Xbox One and select the option denoted reset and keep my games & apps.

When you get the chance, give those steps a shot and let us know if that helped.

Some games require you to be online to verify ownership, to update or simply because they can't be played offline. What game is it that's giving you this issue?

It didn't work. Anyone else having the same issue if they boot up the Xbox One without internet?

In order to pay in Offline mode you do need internet to switch your Xbox Offline. Also, you have to have your account set as your home Xbox in order to play any games on your account.

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes.
Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.
