Offline gaming question

I've had the same xbox 360 since 2009 and I want to upgrade to an xbox one (yes I know it is on the way out, no I cant afford a new console). My question is, can I play the disc version of games without internet? My house has no connection to any internet
of any sort and I dont play online so I'm really wanting to know if I absolutely have to have internet to play certain games: gta V and forza horizon 3 (or any forza) come to mind. Also, would I need internet for dlc to work? I can use my hotspot on my phone
to download dlc but I cant sustain play with it. I ask because I dont want to spend the money on a new console if I cant even use it.

You'll need to connect to the internet to run the initial update and then you can play offline as long as the games (same with DLC) you try to play don't require online. https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/connect-network/using-xbox-one-offline
Forza games can be played offline. I'm not 100% sure about GTA.

But would I still be banned if I play the game offline? Since the game in question lets you play the game offline.

Nope, absolutely no difference.

You don't need to change these settings if you're not using the HDMI in.

OK thanks for your help. I have another question. I do not use HDMI In port for anything because I don't have cable or settelite, I just use HDMI out to connect to TV and that's it. But there are lots of settings on xbox when it comes to One Guide. Are those settings only applicable if I'm using HDMI Inn? Or do I still have to set anything up there even thou I don't watch TV on Xbox.
