Offline functionality

Hello,

I have a question the answer to which is probably common knowledge, but still eludes me after some research.

I have recently purchased a laptop with Windows 8.1 that I intend to use primarily in places without an Internet connection.

During my acquaintance with the system I noticed that I am only able to launch the basic free Microsoft games while logged in to my Xbox account.

Is there any way to circumvent this limitation and launch them when no Internet connection is available?

Offline Functionality Not Working

With the recent 100% packet loss live shortage, I tried to utilize the consoles offline abilities to finish the campaigns in either CoD or Tomb Raider. However, without Xbox Live, the system went haywire. The disc drive took 5 min to read the disk, it couldn't
open my games and apps menu, much less the settings. Games wouldn't load, installation cancel notifications popped up every 30 sec, etc. Was I doing somthing wrong, or did Microsoft lie and the Xbone really doesn't support offline functionality?

 

No internet for a few days; how do I play saved games?

Sign in as normal. You'll be in offline mode for the duration but functionality when it comes to games will be much and such the same.

You can play most of the basic free games, including Solitaire, offline. You might get an error about not being able to connect to Xbox, but you will still be able to play. Once you're back in an area with internet access, the games will attempt to synchronize
your locally saved game data.

Allow me to thank you on behalf of ReeledKnave40 who will be offline for some time now.

It was his mistake - he overlooked that the games had their own launch shortcuts and tried to launch them from the "Games" application, which didn't work offline.

Now that he found the shortcuts and added them to his start screen, everything is working as it should.

Ah yes, that would cause some problems... Glad he's able to game, game, game...
