Official Xbox Wired Microphone not transmitting

Hi,

I own an official Microsoft Wired Mic (Came with the XBox) and suddenly tonight it's stopped transmitting. I can still recieve audio (hear friends fine) but I cant transmit my voice via party chat, voice message etc. What could be the issue? Ive cleaned
out the ports on my controllers, to no avail. Checked the settings. What do you suggest?

Headsets - is it my console or am I doing something wrong?

Hiya!

I've been through 4 different official Xbox Live wired gamer headsets. And on all 4 of them I could not get the microphone to work. I have tried plugging them in to my Xbox Live chatpad, directly in to my Xbox wireless controller, nada. Nothing works.

Does anybody have any tips on what I might be doing wrong? Surely I can't be THAT unlucky to have 4 different headsets not work?

All accessories I use (chat pad, controllers etc) are official Microsoft Xbox products incidentally.

An incidental question - since I last tried I now have a Kinect, which has a microphone which works. Can you use Kinect and headsets together? My microphone is turned off on the Kinect.

Bad latency 160+

Does both your computer and Xbox use the wired connection?

Wireless connections will add a significant amount of latency to a connection, due to the unstable methods of transmitting the data.

Is the mic switch set to mute?

Nope. I switched it back and forth multiple times throughout the night to see if it would change anything. Nothing.

Do you have another headset to try? Perhaps there's a short in the wire.

No other headset to try but when plugging it in/out and switching mute to unmuted it makes the definite "click" sound over the mic and others can hear it. So theres a current going through it.

Ok, I would like to rule out an issue with the headset itself though. If you have a friend who has a headset could you borrow theirs to try it?

If not then I'm afraid you may have to purchase a new headset anyway and hopefully it was just a short in the system.
