Odd problem with primary gamer tag

All of a sudden, the right joy stick quit working on all my controllers, with all games on my primary gamer tag only. I bought a new controller thinking that was the problem before I realized it was only the primary tag that it was happening with. I can
use the other gamer tags and the controllers work fine. Is there a setting for this somewhere? I have deleted my primary gamer tag and downloaded it again and it is still not working right.

Deleting my accidental unwanted xbox live gamertag

I created a xbox gamer tag using a secondary email but now I need to change it to my primary email coz someone else needs it as his main email. However, wen I made my primary Microsoft account, a gamer tag was issued to it instantly after i made it. How
do I delete the accidental account I made and shift my primary Microsoft account to my original gamertag? Please help as I have been struggling with this problem for a while now but to no avail.

Thanks for giving those steps axemator gave you. Just to check, does this happen with all games or one in particular? I noticed you recently played Minecraft and I have seen this pop up before with that game.

Often times deleting the game and it's title update from under Settings and Storage, then re-installing (if it's a digital download) can help with this issue.
