Odd left stick issues on wireless controller.

I've been having issues with my left analog stick on my wireless controller.

Not only is there a drifting issue in the up direction, but there is another odd issue. I've noticed that sometimes when I move the analog stick from down position immediately to the up position, sometimes games don't register me holding all the way up.
It's as if I am only pushing upwards halfway. However, it the eventually registers.

Then there is the issue of going from an upward position to downward position. This also does the same thing where sometimes it acts as if I am only moving the analog stick halfway down when I am actually holding it all the way. However, when I do this...it
doesn't eventually register...it just keeps doing that unless I move the stick around.

And what makes this weirder is that this problem isn't consistent. It doesn't always happen. It probably happens approximately 1 out of 8 times I do it.

So I have a few questions...

Does anyone know what could cause this? Is there an easy fix for it that I can do myself (easy as in not having to solder anything)? And what is the warranty on a wireless controller? (I've had this controller for less than a year.)

    :)

  2. Left Stick problems

My Left Stick has a few issues

    1) the movement of the stick feels stiff

    2) when i press on it i have problems ( for example in Call of duty sprinting lasts less than a second)

I opened my wireless controller cleaned the inside and even switched "sticks" but nothing solves my problems so far. What can i do?

  3. xbox 360 controller Left analog stick ghosting issues People who knows their wireless controllers

I have mention this before but people always trolled on me base on this.

(ghosting issue) 'moving left on the analog stick then stop while the avatar keeps going left'

I have notice that some games give you a ghosting issue left analog stick while the wireless controller is bundle.

xbox 360 controller 4 boards (Tp3 first came out, P10 xbox 360 pro, JB xbox 360 black elite, WH2 slim) below the left corner where the battery is stored..

The controller I have now is a xbox 360 S (WH2 black xbox 360 wireless controller) That now gives a ghosting effect on mass effect 2 and 3 demo. Before the dashboard update there was no ghosting issue, well i'm not 100% sure on that..

All I know is when I have my first xbox 360 slim I was giving a ghost effect on some of my games, I think the wireless controller bundle was a JB not sure. So I exchanged the controller to get a WH2 wireless controller which fix the ghost issue, until the
dashboard update only ghosting issue with mass effect 2 and 3 demo..

I have tested the TP3 controller on mass effect 2 and 3 demo including other games, no ghost issue.

so my question is? Why is an first xbox 360 TP3 controller with no problems of ghost issues works with every game, then they decided to upgrade the board which gives problems now..

Even their new xbox 360 grey controller probably has ghosting issues.

Sorry you're having issues with your controller. The issues that you're describing does sound like faulty hardware unfortunately. As such per the accessory warranty if you've had it over 90 days, the only option would be to purchase a new controller. Totally
understand how frustrating that can be. If you've had it less than 90 days please go to this link and request a repair on the controller. Below is the link to the Xbox Warranty.

Does anyone know what could cause this? Usually hardware issue when drifting happens.

Is there an easy fix for it that I can do myself (easy as in not having to solder anything)?
There is not a fix. If your controllers are up to date repair is the only option. DIY fixes are against the forums TOU.

And what is the warranty on a wireless controller? (I've had this controller for less than a year.): 90 days.

  5. I have the exact same problem and I think my controller is just over 90 days old. I am very careful with my equipment and it's disappointing to see official microsoft hardware fail so quickly especially considering how expensive it is. The last time I had
microsoft replace a controller, (yes this has happened before) they made me pay for shipping which was around $20 because I had to buy a box and packaging materials as well. And on top of that, they will not ship your new controller until they receive your
faulty one. So you're looking at well over a month and possibly around 2 months to get a new controller. I recommend buying a new one. Hopefully microsoft will fix these faults in future models. Meanwhile, the best we can do is spread awareness of these faults.

Since it was past warranty, I decided to open it up myself. I cleaned it and surprisingly it's working again. No problems at all...for now.

As for the solution of "buy a new one"...I feel that isn't the right choice. Why reward Microsoft with more of my money when the first controller I purchased from them would start to have issues in less than year's time. That's inexcusable and not only that...how
do I know the same thing wouldn't just happen again with the next controller.

What needs to happen is MS needs to address this problem that I have noticed a lot of other people have. Either extend the warranty or fix the design of their product.

Why are the Xbox controllers getting SMALLER?

    Thanks for the recommendation.
They have it right with the symmetrical thumb stick placement. It is "unnatural" to have your left thumb pulled in against your hand in order to reach the left thumb stick.
The issue I will have with this controller is the wire, 3 meters is not long enough for the room size and will present a tripping hazard.
When they bring out a wireless controller, I'm in.
