Odd latency issue I can't pin down

(Preface: I'm in Australia, which may or may not be relavent... NBN and so forth)

    Hello tech wizards,

I am going to eat my Xbox with battery acid for brekky if I don't get to the bottom of this bollocks. As briefly as possible, my situation is this (the business end):

National Bing Bong Network Arris CM8200 Modem > Nighthawk RAX120 router > [via 10-15m ethernet] > Nighthawk GS810EMX Switch > Xbone / Apple TV / Chromecast / blerdeblahrg

    Apple TV pingu: 9ms

    Xbone pingu: 151ms

Same result on Xboner if I power cycle every device within 500m of my Xboneroo, change ports, plug ethernet cable DIRECTLY INTO XBONE'S BUM (read ethernet port).

I'm as confused as an Irishman whose been given three spades and told to take his pick.

    Please halp.

    :)

    Hi,

try to clear the mac adress on your xbox and factory reset your router to see if that fixes the issue

what is your NAT type in network settings on the xbox?

if it is moderate or strict, enable uPNP on your router or configure it to allow ports so that the NAT type changes to open and see what happens

    ....
It depends which destination the device pings.

Let me explain this in a real world and car analogy:

Imagine, your Internet is provided by a sports car driver, whom you ask to fetch data from a website or other server, the driver then speeds off to the server providing the service, and returns to your home with the data.

Let's say you have an Apple store right around the corner.

If you ask the driver to "ping" the Apple store, the driver gets into the sports car, and you start your stop watch. The driver speeds off, down your road, reaches the Apple store, gets a confirmation stamp that he was at the Apple store and drives back
to your house. As soon as he arrives on your driveway, you stop your watch and get a few minutes as a result.

Now the Xbox requests a ping from the Xbox servers in Seattle/Redmond in the Washington State USA.

Your driver gets in the car, you start the stop watch, and the driver speeds off. Down the road, onto the next highway, rushes to the next (air-)port in the next major city, and then boards the plane/ship to cross the Pacific to get to the US West Coast.
Then he gets into a rental car, speeds all the way to Redmond, enters the Xbox server room, gets a confirmation stamp to prove he's been there, gets back into the rental car, returns to a different airport (because of bad weather or whatever other reason),
boards the plane, gets routed via Japan back to Australia, gets into his sports car and returns to your driveway.

As you stop the watch, you realize that the driver took several days for the PING trip to the USA compared to a few minutes down the road to the Apple store.

So without information which servers each Ping contacted, you can't really compare these two measurements.

If you asked the Apple TV to Ping an Apple store in downtown London, the Ping for the Apple TV would be much worse compared to the Xbox Ping.

So without information what server each device pinged, you could as well scold the driver why he took several days for pinging Redmond, when he did the ping to the Apple store in just a few minutes.

Does that make the difference between your ping results understandable?

Smack Down vs Raw 2009 :- function RS not available on Wireless Controllee. How do you pin?

I haven't played this one in 3 years odd, but if I remember rightly you have to move the Right Stick down to pin. Not push it in.

    Latency Issues

That is a very odd issue, what's the question? Just seeing if anyone else has had that issue or looking for a fix from the forum?
Sorry specifically I'm looking for a fix to bring my Xbox latency down to at least be comparable to my PC's.
