Occasional short beep/noise? Disc drive?

I occasionally hear this split-second, kind of beep-like noise which I think is coming from the disc drive. It could be something else, but it definitely seems to involve the blu-ray drive. It only lasts about a split-second or so and it sounds like a quiet
beep or like something quickly stopping loading. I only hear it once or maybe twice after playing a disc-based game for a while. I haven't heard it in any download games or in the dashboard yet. To be clear, I haven't experienced any other issues with the
system or disc drive yet but the fact that I can't find anyone talking about this makes me slightly worried. I only hear it about once or twice during the entire time of playing a disc based game but I really wonder why I hear it at all. The disc doesn't need
to spin or load anything, so I'm wondering what would cause this noise. Is it just a normal noise? Does anyone else experience this?

halo 4 sounds on limited edition console

just purchased a halo 4 edition console. the description of the device states that there are halo sounds when powering up and opening disc drive. all i get when powering up is a short beep. i do get a halo sound when ejecting discs though. just wondering
if this is normal (the short beep on power up). thanks for any information anybody can provide.

xbox slim making quiet high pitched beep and snap sounds

I have about 2 months old xbox360 Slim and after playing a game for about 15-45 minutes I can hear a very quiet and short beep-sound that is followed by quiet "snap". Sometimes the music/sounds in the game freeze for the duration of the beep and will continue
after the snap sound. Sometimes the whole game seems to freeze for the duration of this.

I have tried to have the box on horizontal and vertical positions and it doesn't seem to matter. After a while I always get the beep/snap sounds and occasional short freeze of the game. There is plenty of room around the box so ventilation should not be
the problem...

I can only describe the snap sound as to something like you could hear when plastic (TV etc.) moves during heat expansion etc. At first I tought it's the fan going on or something, but I then realized that the fan is always on when the box is powered on...

 

Hi Mouse! Actually, the disc does spin periodically as an authentication check to make sure you are playing a properly-owned legal copy of the game. The drives do, from time to time, make noises that change in pitch based on how fast it is spinning, which
can definitely be triggered when the disc shifts from "spinning up" to putting on the brakes. I've heard this myself from time to time in my drive. Based on the amount of whirring and buzzing that comes from the drive during an installation, it sounds completely
natural it could make a sound like that during a routine identity check. I don't think you have anything about which to worry!
