Occasional blank screen while playing on xbox one s

So I'm sorry I haven't posted any updates to this thread in awhile. But here's my current situation. I started having hardware issues with my vizio (top 4th of the backlighting went out.) So after that and all the frustration with HDR content, I decided
to exchange my vizio m65-d0 for a samsung ks8500, and I couldn't be happier. The picture is absolutely outstanding and my x1s? I have the beautiful green check mark next to every possible setting on my x1 and my video has not cut out once. I also read that
the ks8500 does not support dolby10 so I'm curious if the video issues have to deal with dolby10 and hdr10 that vizio offers. Just a thought. But again if at all possible for anyone on here with the hdr issues to exchange for a samsung ks8000 or ks8500 I highly
recommend it!

Hey, vampire! Thanks for the update! Since that's the solution for you, I've marked your answer as verified.

For everyone else, though, I'm still in here for you. We're trying to recover from the hectic situations that come with a platform change (and after being on vacation for a week), but I will provide an update once I am able to settle and get everything sorted

Nothing new fot the D series. I have a theory though that it might be due in part to the color space. The d series is capable of 8 bit & if the 4K standard for the XB1S is 10 bit then maybe that might create a problem.

Looking back at your video and
your picture, Allow HDR isn't an option for you. I dug into your settings a bit more from the manual that Vizio offers on the website
for your model. It looks like there is auto settings for Color Space in the MORE PICTURE options. Your video says you have it set to Auto. If you change that to YCbCr (it says that should be an option, I'm not sure since I don't have the TV in front of me),
does that change anything?

If not, I'm hoping this helps explain things a bit more. In your video, you show you changing your settings to 4K UHD as the TV resolution. When it's 1080, that means the TV does the upscaling for any 4K content instead of the Xbox. When it's set to 4K UHD,
the console is trying to upscale everything instead. Since Allow HDR isn't an option that you can pick, it's likely going to a black screen because of that specifically. I'm wondering if the Color Space might help with that, but I can't guarantee it will.

I'm not able to find anything about the 8 bit color depth in the manual (or even HDR options, if they are indeed there). This leads me to believe it is likely related to the issue, but I would need more information from Vizio for that. Let me know if any

it didn't seem to make a difference sadly. What confuses me is the fact that every time it's 12 minutes before it starts happening when the tv has been off awhile. Every single time. It would make sense that it could be both upscalers budding heads & then
the tv not having enough power to sustain the signal for too long before cutting out.

Yeah I think there needs to be a perspective from Vizio's side of things because if it is the upscaler then the only way to find out is to disable the upscaler in the tv.

So I just got a new PC that's capable of handling 4k & the same exact thing happened when I tried to switch a game to 4k. So this isn't an issue with the xb1s. This is an issue with Vizio. I made them aware of it & we'll see where it goes from there.

I hate to repost but I just discovered something. The 5th port on the tv might only be acceptable for chroma 4:2:0. I'm not sure but I think I read somewhere that the xbox one s accepts only 4:2:2 or higher? If that's the case then if that can be changed
then that could fix the comparability issues with the D-series tvs.

I have the screen flicker problem with my brand new Sony XBR 75" 850E. Only flickers when set to 4k on the xbox. SUCKS. I think I'm going to buy a UHD blu ray player and test it, If it doesn't fix the problem, I'll return it. If it does, I will drive my
Jeep over the xbox.

I have a Sony TV at my house and at someone elses house, they are different TVs but they have the same problem, I dont know if I switched up the cables because once i forgot a cable and used another one and since then it has had this problem, oh and its
a normal Xbox One.

Hi I'm a little late to this. I have a newer Samsung SUHD 65in 4k TV that I just purchased last year. I have this same issue with my Xbox One S. When I put my xbox one S into 4k settings my tv goes black every so often as well. I have noticed if i unplug
the hdmi cable and plug it back in. The screen will sometimes rapidly flash to black over and over every 2 seconds. I then restarted my xbox one s and it went away. However my tv still flashes to black on 4k settings but currently it does it every 30 mins
or so, very annoying. So it is not a tv issue it seems like its an Xbox one s communication issue with the tv.

So is there any xbox updates on this?

For my issue, I believe the 4k output to be game dependent. I still believe this to be poor optimisation on Microsofts part, but these issues pop up most during Halo 5 and Gears of War Ultimate Edition, other games such as The Evil Within and Resident Evil
4 have no issues regarding using the 4k setting. In other words, this might be something within the coding of the resolutions of both Halo and Gears that are conflicting with the 4k upscale. Looking on audio video forums, others are having the exact same issues
identical to mine (here:
www.avsforum.com/.../2549825-xbox-one-s-issue-up-scaling-games-4k.html) with Gears as well; I'm unsure if they are having issues or non-issues with other games on their One S.

Somehow I doubt the engineering team would consider the cable working to be "coincidental" lol. I'm no engineer, but I'm fairly sure there are specific details, units of measure etc. that can be examined and calculated to figure out exactly why the cable
worked and not just assume it's some kind of voodoo magic.

I gave model numbers and links - if the engineers are serious about trying to get to the bottom of these problems, I would hope they would take any information they can, especially when it involves specific model numbers they could use to look up details
about the products.

That all said, I could care less if they look into why this cable seems to solve the problem, and long as they figure out what they did wrong and fix it.
