The reason I'm thinking that too is so many different models are popping up same issue. Surely all of these can't be firmware updates etc to the screens.

Just makes you wonder being the first 4K console has something been overlooked.

    :)

Misses Quiniela when I get off work tonight I will take some screen shots and post them here. I'll start with a link to the tv I have. More to follow.

So I couldn't get all of the files because some of them would have taken more than an hour to download so I got the test videos & one is playing with no video but choppy sound & the other is playing the video but with no sound. The tv is not restarting&
the issue with the xbox one s persists.

  5. Just an update - I mentioned earlier that I was able to get my 4K TV (a JVC DM65USR) to quit doing the constant screen on/off nonsense by using this as the HDMI cable and plugging its USB power supply cord into the TV's USB slot:

    www.amazon.com/.../ref=sr_1_1

I'm certain that the reason this works is that it's pulling additional power into the HDMI cable. I've tried a multitude of 4k-capable HDMI cables as well as an HDMI repeater using two 3 FT 4k HDMI cables, but even that did not provide the power needed to
allow a solid 4K signal to come through.

Anyway, it's abundantly clear that the Xbox One S has a fundamental design flaw that is almost certainly hardware-based. It simply does not send a 4K signal robust enough to be marketed and sold as a 4K media player. For every single one of these televisions
experiencing problems, if you're able to connect your set to and 4K player or device of any sort and have a 4K signal come through, then the same should be the case for the Xbox One S - there is just no way these problems are a flaw with the many brands and
models of TVs experiencing this problem.

Just to be clear, I'm not promoting that Seiki cable I linked to - it's not a viable solution because it tries to automatically do scaling work, which is not what you want happening on content that's already 4K - I just mentioned it to share my findings
    about this flawed console.

Unless Microsoft is ready to recall the Xbox One S and adequately reconfigure the way the outbound 4K signal is powered, I can't imagine that this problem will be resolved. I applaud them for getting rid of the power brick, but it's looking like in doing
so they might have removed one of the key selling points of the unit. It'll be interesting to see if they continue to sell this unit as 4K capable without ammended wording on how it's only apparently 4K capable on select 4K TVs.

  6. Another update. I did some more experimenting and it turns out that the Seiki cable I mentioned actually DOES work perfectly for alleviating the 4K problem we're having. The cable does not try to upscale a 4K 60hz signal, it only does so on sub-4K material,
so if you run the xbox one s at 4K through the cable, it should come through just as it would if the xbox one s didn't have the design flaw. I tested this on my PC running at 4k 60hz and the Seiki cable does not interfere with the image at all (which would
be easy to see in how fonts are rendered, etc. on a pc).

The cable is possibly low quality - I have to unplug and replug it in up to 3 or 4 times to get a good connection with no visual noise or artifacts, but once it acheives a good connection, it stays connected without problems indefinitely (I tested it for
a few hours) running at 4K.

Microsoft, please relay this to your engineers....for whatever reason this cable:

    www.amazon.com/.../ref=sr_1_1
corrects whatever problem people are experiencing with the 4K signal not working on their 4K TVs. I'm not sure if it's the additional power coming in via USB or if the device itself corrects some other flaw with the signal
coming from the Xbox One S, but this might help isolate what on earth is going on.

That does make sense. I mean when I have my tv off for awhile & then switch to 4k resolution it can hold the signal for about 12 minutes before it starts cutting the signal on & off & then the signal going out completely. It seems so much like a power issue.

I'm in the same boat as most everyone here... I have a Vizio M55-D0, with 2.0.13.13 firmware, and an automatically updated XBox One S. I've power cycled everything, swapped cables, disabled HDR, and still I get intermittent black screens, and occasional
    white static!!!

This is more than a little frustrating.

I'm finding the whole 1 s experience a nightmare not only do you have to be selective on what screen the latest update has buggered up UHD Netflix it now don't work.

so tempted to sell go back to my old XBone and wait for PS4 Pro :/

AllDaySonYeah - While this has worked for you, that does not mean it will work for others. Until others try, we can only assume that it's coincidental that this worked for you. To clarify from an MS perspective, most of the issues users are running into
is the fact that the processor in the TV isn't up to handling what the Xbox One S puts out. This could be why that extra power resolved it for you; your TV might have needed that extra push. And to make sure that it's clear, I am stating *most* issues, not
all. Some users might be outliers, and that is the point of this thread and my work with the teams that do 4K here.

Razerhdd - Thanks for trying for us! I'll relay that back to the team so that they might be able to figure out any other steps you can try.

Grezzny - Please go through this thread for my posts (most of which are on page 1) to see what information you need to provide so I can pass your information on to the right people.

BabyBoy34 - Thanks so much for those! I'll pass these along for you.

Again, thanks everyone for the help and detailed responses! I'll let you all know if I need anything else from you that the teams that work on this are asking for. Occasional blank screen while playing on xbox one s :)

  13. Somehow I doubt the engineering team would consider the cable working to be "coincidental" lol. I'm no engineer, but I'm fairly sure there are specific details, units of measure etc. that can be examined and calculated to figure out exactly why the cable
worked and not just assume it's some kind of voodoo magic.

I gave model numbers and links - if the engineers are serious about trying to get to the bottom of these problems, I would hope they would take any information they can, especially when it involves specific model numbers they could use to look up details
    about the products.

That all said, I could care less if they look into why this cable seems to solve the problem, and long as they figure out what they did wrong and fix it.

  14. AllDaySonYeah - I've read through all of your posts, and you have not provided the information that is needed for the teams working on this. You've given your TV model and the troubleshooting you've done on your own. I will need you to provide the information
that the teams are looking for, as I asked in this post
here. Once you post back with that, I will be more than happy to pass on your information. Until then, they will not accept your details because we do not have the full information they need. Thanks for understanding!
