Numbers on gametag

Just got into playing some halo reach but it's bothering me that my friends and many players online don't have numbers after their name. I thought the numbers would be invisible in a microsoft game. On my profile there's a "#" after my gamertag so i'm
wondering if i can change this in some way.

I'm not 100% sure but I think meanwhile you can change the gt to the same gt when you change one letter size.

If you don't have a problem with that you could give it a try. Before the change you will see if you get a suffix again or not.

yeah, new thing is pretty dumb.. like Smwutches said you have to change your gamertag to something that's not already been used, or else it will add numbers at the end to keep the whole gamertag system in control because you can't have the same Gamertag as someone else yk? Anyway "You would have to change your tag to something else and then change it back to try getting the tag without the suffix." - Smwutches
