Numbers at the end of my gamertag

I apologize for the trouble however having a number included on your gamertag is to make it unique since it’s already taken and succeeding change will cost us the regular price.

No as it told you it would add numbers which is random

It doesn't tell you a name is taken it is upto you to look up the various different versions of the name

It warns you as you enter if it will add numbers

If you click ok then it's final

Thars because you weren't using the correct tool

It doesn't matter what you search

To find a name you MUST HAVE the exact context

Gamertag is the same as gamer tag or GAMERtag

To change your name as mentioned by smwutches your name MUST BE unique and it will only tell you then if it's taken and here is yours name with a suffic

The only way would be to change your tag to one that nobody else is using. The numbers are given when you choose a tag someone else has so people can differentiate between the 2 accounts.

Interesting, as I did a search of my new Gamertag first and no results came up, so I thought it surely couldn’t be taken.

If that’s the case, that’s a bummer. The numbers “ruin” it lol.
