Never used unblock us to use USA Netflix I just enter the dns setting if they change its only a day or so wait for new numbers but mine been good for months now ;-)

 

So, 2 new TV channel apps (Syfy and USA) that I don't have providers for... Yay...

 

Here's a question: if you can watch cable TV via your Xbox One, what exactly is the point of these apps to watch the exact same shows, especially since you need to have access to the provider anyways? It all seems incredibly redundant.

Its not redudant as not all channels offer On Demand service through cable providers. So you can have your cable hooked up to your xbox and enjoy these channels whenever, however you cant enjoy any of the shows whenever.

 

GG these apps allow you to watch their programming on your schedule, not when the show airs (in case you miss it, etc). Also, you can use their apps on apple/android products away from home (or on the tablet, in the kitchen while making dinner).

I have to say that this makes the whole TV via X1 aspect more appealing to me. My wife wants nothing to do with having the X1 on to watch TV and I can't really find a way to gain
her interest. Therefore, we had to go out and spend $60(ish, if memory serves) to get a decent powered splitter and extra cabling to split our cable box's signal to 2 different TV inputs so she could have the TV without dealing with the Xbox.

However, I was starting to wonder if that $ was a sound investment, since most of the time I turn on the Xbox just to game. I did still want the ease of pulling up TV anytime I
wanted to though, on occasions like breaking news we might hear about, weather bulletins... almost any event when one might want to just quickly check a local TV station for a quick update. Of course, these kind of events aren't all that common, at least around
here.

The one thing I like about the idea of these apps is that if I'm having a bad night of gaming, or just feel like taking a break for awhile, or whatever the reason, it will be more
likely for me to just switch to the TV and pull up a show that I want to watch without having to think or care about whether it's already started or finished. If it works that way, I'm all for it. Bring on the apps.
