  1. Now have two Xbox consoles in the house

I broke down and bought a 2nd Xbox so my boys would stop fighting over Fortnite time. I believe I'll need a #nd Microsoft account and a 2nd Microsoft Live subscription.

Can I have one boy move his login to the new Xbox and new MS Live account? Or does he have to create new?

    :)

same xbox live gold membership on two different xbox one consoles

If I have two different xbox one consoles (one at my house and one at my dad's house), can I use my xbox live gold membership in both places? Or is it tied to the console so I would need two different memberships?

    Thank you.

    Two consoles, one house

    Hi

Your wife will need to set up her own account on the other console but if you leave your account loaded onto the other console and have that console set as your home console then she should be able to play online and share most of your content whilst signed
    into that console.

    Hi

All you will need to do is add one of the two Xbox profiles you already have onto the new console and you should be able to continue playing. When loading the profile onto your new console make sure that you load the profile that has the Xbox Live Gold subscription
onto the console and then leave the profile on the first console with this console also being set as the home Xbox and you shoul dnot need to purchase a second Xbox Live Gold subscription.

    Agreed.

I would download your original account to the new Xbox and set that Xbox as your home console (via Settings app). That way all accounts can play the downloaded games purchased by the original account, and Xbox LIVE gold shares to
all accounts (No need to buy multiple Xbox LIVE subscriptions or games). Create a new account and put it on the new Xbox. Have one kid only sign in/play on the new account on the new Xbox. And have the other kid sign in and play on the original account
on the original Xbox. When you purchase games, buy them on the original account. Since the original account's home console is set to the new Xbox, all accounts can play that purchased game. That way you only have to buy 1 game for both consoles, you don't
have to buy 2 every time.

And this won't remove the subscription from my son's console, right?
Subscriptions are tied to the ACCOUNT that bought the subscription.

So your son can go to any console in the world, sign in there, and he will have access to his Gold membership subscription, Game Pass (if applicable) and digital games.

As long as he's signed in on a specific console, that console will also share the Gold membership to anyone playing with him on that console. Even if your son is not actively playing, as long as he is signed online (for example on a second controller), another
person can play on that console and access his games and benefit from the Gold membership.

The account that owns the subscription, can designate one console as their "Home Console" (or as you call it the "Main console") and will share the Gold to that CONSOLE. Any previous "Home Console" will lose the ability to share Gold and games when your
son designates a new Home Console.

Your son's account will still keep his Gold membership, and will share it to the designated Home Console, which in turn allows anyone on that console to benefit from your son's games and Subscriptions.

So is there a specific reason why you want to keep your son's console the Home Console? Are you (or someone else besides your son) playing on that console and needs the subscription?

If so, then there is no other way around than to buy a separate Gold membership for your girlfriends kid. Or you'll have to play on that console to benefit from the shared Gold membership after setting the "girlfriend console" as your son's Home Console.

ok this is how you go about it. first off does your son have gold already on his account and have digital games on that account? if so set up the new xbox like normal make a account for your ladys kid. when that's complete on the new console go to settings....
personalization... then click my home xbox. form there you will put your sons account as the home xbox account for the new console. from that point on the new console should have the xbox live and all digital games from the other account.

    Thanks for this.

The only real reason I wanted to keep the 'Home Console' designated to my son's Xbox, is that I'm not very clued up on all of this, and I was concerned he'd lose his access to Live Gold.
