November Update broke Elite Controller/Console Sync/Power On

After the November update, my controller no longer turns on my console. Even after manually turning on my console via the button, my controller will not sync and connect to my console. I must press the console's power button for a long while until the
console does a hard shutdown and after restarting it, my controller will finally connect.

To clarify, I have the elite controller and the elite console. This problem does not exist on my wife's 500GB console and non-elite controller. It's a huge hassle because I bought the elite console for it's claimed fast instant-on feature and instead I
must wait for it to completely boot up after a hard reset which takes a long while.

Anyone have advice? Can MS acknowledge this problem at the least so I know there will be a fix? I just purchased this console (Nov 6th) and I am wondering if I should return it to GameStop for a full refund.

What happens when you connect the controller to the console with a USB cable.

If the controller does work when plugged in with USB cable than try and carry out a controller firmware update by going into all settings/Kinect & devices/Controllers and see what happens afterwards.

When I plug in the controller with a cable it works, but stops immediately after disconnecting the controller. Tried with non-elite controller and it does the same thing so it's a problem with the console.

Both controllers have updated firmware to the latest version. It's not a controller issue, it's the console. This problem was not there before the update on the 12th, it's a new problem. Restarting the console or powering off and then back on fixes the
problem but when the system goes into sleep and comes back from it, the problem is still there.

I can reproduce the problem by turning off my console (by holding down the Xbox button on the controller) which puts it into sleep, and then turning it back on, then none of my controllers will sync.

 

Having the Exact same problem. Can even sync the elite controller to the old console with no issue. Seems to be the elite controller/console combo having the issue. Full power down did allow it to resync.

Will follow up if the issue recurs.

 

Same problem with me on day one xbox one. Was all fine 1st time after November update. Then 2nd time forza 5 will not sync. All other games and apps worked fine. Just exited forza 5 now controller will not connect to xbox one. Doing a full reboot. No point
contacting xbox support as seen other posts saying they pass the buck to developers. Wake up Microsoft. It's your update. Also lost my entire progress from day one release of forza 5.

If xbox and Microsoft can be bothered to sort it we can only wait and see.

My controllers work fine on my old Xbox 500GB. The elite console is the culprit. All my controllers have the latest firmware and plugging them in works, but they will not work wirelessly until I reboot the console or power cycle it.

 

Having same issue with my Elite Xbox. The issue appears to be with instant on. I've had to turn it off and the issues have gone away. I talked with Xbox support for 1.5 hours. They haven't a clue.

 

Add me to this list, $500 elite purchased 2 days ago and controller isnt syncing.

I had to install a surge protector so if the controller doesnt work, I can just turn the switch on and off instead of reaching back and unplugging the wire! Can't believe I am having to do this on a $500 console.

 

As an update, mine is still doing it. Just about every time I shut down, if i don't immediately turn back on, the controller fails to sync unless I do a hard reset.

Would really like the instant on to work. In the short term, will try disabling instant on. Though that is one of my favorite features.

Kinda stinks that its advertised as a faster than the old version load in, but can't use the best part of it....

 

It is not only the elite consoles, my halo 5 limited edition console does the same thing. Everthing worked fine till Nov. 12, installed the console update and controller firmware update and the controller loose connection every 30 mins. the big X on the
controller dont turn off completley it dims down and come back. the connection is lost for about 0,5 - 1 sec. i havent any issues befor NXE update. my old 2013 controller is working but my halo 5 controller does not. i have to powercycle the console to play
with my halo 5 controller after that the controller will work till the battery is empty so i plugged in my USB cable (Play&Charge Kit) and recharge my battery after i disconnect my controller from the cable because the light on the cable is white which means
my battery is full the issue starts again and i have to powercycle the console.

i dont have this issue with the 2013 controller this controller have also the newest update but in the end it shows xxxx81 and my halo 5 controller shows xxxx85 so these are two different firmwares. i think there is an software issue with the .85 firmware.

Halo 5 controller works until i have to recharge the battery with USB cable then i have to powercycle the console to not loose the connection every 30 min.

my old controller is working as it should (.81 firmware, newest one)

 

My xbox one elite bundle is

Elite wireless controller can not be connected to the quick startup

and Dashboard is not connected to xboxlive in quick sign in

Maybe...there is a possibility that there is a problem with the quick sign-in

It might be resolved in unset of quick sign-in

I think that it is error of elite console

hope the improvement at system upgrade

 

I can confirm that this is not only an issue with the elite controller. I got the Master Chief Collection bundle and after the update I have has this same issue I hope Microsoft would care enough to check these forums and fix their mistakes instead of making
us pay for it
