Notifications vanishing

I cant get notifications anymore. They pop up on my screen and i cant click them after they go off there aren't in notifications. Friend requests,party invites, nothing, it pops up on my screen for a few seconds and than vanishes.

I'm sorry to see any issues with notifications! If you haven't already, I suggest

setting all of your notifications to Off and then power cycling the console by holding the power button for 8-10 seconds. If you have a second account on your console, you can test the notifications by sending a party chat invite and see if it shows up;
you can also work with a friend on this. If it's not showing as expected, then go ahead and turn them back on.

After that, you should see them show up in the Notifications section.

Let me know how this goes! We'll look at next steps after this is done.

I tried it but i'm still not getting them.

They're turned off, but they still flash up on the screen before disappearing. if it helps I also noticed that my recent player history hasn't changed in weeks. Same people from a game i haven't played in a month rather then people ive been playing with.

To ensure I understand correctly, even with the notifications set to off, you are still getting them? And is this still happening after the update that was released last week?

If it is, then you will want to try a
factory reset. You can keep games and apps first, because I feel like this might be something weird with the operating system. However, if that doesn't work, do a full factory reset.

Yea, they would still pop up.

I tried resetting it with games and apps and than just a full reset and it's still not working.

A chat invite popped up on my screen but i couldn't go to it and it still never appeared in my notifications.

 

That is quite weird. I wonder if it's account specific. Do you have another account on the console to test out? You can even create a new free one just to see if that happens there. Let me know how that goes.

Hmmm. Did you have someone not on your console do the same?

I know this might sound weird and not related, but I want to check on your network statistics, too. Can you post back with your detailed network statistics for me so I can get a cursory glance at those? You can get them from going to Settings > All
settings > Network > Network settings > Detailed network statistics. The only reason why I'm curious in this is because of the factory reset not working, which should have.

I'm off for the weekend, but will be back Monday. If you don't see another response from me today, this is why.

Thanks for this! That wireless strength should be improved. Are you able to either go wired or change your router's wireless channel? If you don't know how to change the channel, if you post back with your router's manufacturer and model number I can help
get you the right steps for that. Also be sure that nothing is enclosing your console and it's not behind any glass doors (on an entertainment center).

Aside from the network stuff, there's something we think might be going on. When you try to action on the notification by pressing the Xbox button on the controller, we think that it's signaling to the console to not put it in your notifications section.
Next time you get one, can you not press the Xbox button and see if it goes into your notifications? If it does, try launching the party chat invite from that menu. Let me know how that works.

We had seen an issue earlier this year with users trying to get party invites from Destiny's LFG website. Do you know if anyone is sending you these invites through a LFG portal not built into the console? This might have some impact, too.

We'll see how these go for you and dig into other things after.

Thanks for trying that! The last thing I can suggest right now is trying your account on another console or trying your console on another network. I think that will help completely rule out your console and network in general. It's either your console or
the network at this point, and I'm at a point where I can't pinpoint it.

So, you can do either of these: Put your account on another console not in your house, and try to accept invites; try your console at someone else's house to see if you get invites.
