Nothing you can do when someone steals your Credit Card and creates an XBOX Account.

My Credit Card (CC) was stolen and used to create a XBOX account. It was also charged several charges. There should be a better way to get a refund back to my account. XBOX/Microsoft will not issue a refund because I cannot verify the SECOND account that
my card was used on. They tell me that they need to verify by email or text and I have told them that I cannot verify that account because I did not create it.

I told them that the CC in question should only be attached to one account which is any other account is Fraud. They were able to see that the card was attached to two different User ID's but they will take no action against the wrong user until
I can verify that ID.

The big problem is it's a Debit card so it's like cash and and I'm out $150+ until this get resolved. They should have been able to see that the card was being used improperly and issued a credit but no!! I'm told to file a claim with my BOA and they will
talk with the bank before issuing a credit. So I'm out the money till then.

Verification of the CC used should be enough to access and or shut down an account. If I have the CC and it's attached to an account that I no nothing about. XBOX/Microsoft should be able to suspend that account and process refunds that were made. If
the person that committed this fraud wants that account opened they will have to call in and provide correct information to open the account, but I don't think they will.

The card has been canceled by my bank and I have also removed it from my XBOX account and canceled all my XBOX subscriptions.

There has to be a better way!!

How to Manage your Xbox LIVE payment options

Overview

You can choose to use more than one payment method for your Xbox LIVE account. The payment options include credit cards and PayPal accounts. You can use these payment options to buy items from Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

The 2-year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract uses only credit cards as the payment option. The other payment options like Debit Cards, Prepaid cards and PayPal are not valid for this subscription. However, you can change your payment to another credit card.

If it is before the end of the two years and there is no credit card associated with your account, it is assumed you have terminated the subscription, and you will be charged an Early Termination Fee and any applicable taxes.

It is easy to edit your payment options on your console or at Xbox.com

Steps to Follow

Add or change a payment option using your console

1) Use your Xbox LIVE gamertag to Sign in.

2) Proceed to Settings and then select Account.

3) Select Manage Payment Options, and then choose either of the following:

• If you want to add a new credit card, select Add Credit Card.
• If you want to use your PayPal account on Xbox LIVE, select Add PayPal. You will be required to enter your PayPal username and password. Follow the instructions to add PayPal as a payment option. You cannot use PayPal as a payment option for the 2 year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract. PayPal is not available in all regions.

4) After making changes to payment options, select Update Payment Option.

Add or Change a payment option on Xbox.com

1) Go to My Account.

2) Select Payments and Billings and click on Manage Payment Options.

3) You may be required to Sign in using your Microsoft account (email and password).

4) Proceed to do either of the following:

If you want to edit a payment option, select Edit.

If you want to add a payment option, you can do either of the following:

• Click on Add New Credit Card and enter the credit card information
• Click on PAY with PayPal and follow the instructions.

 

You don't get a refund for fraud. It's the bank that has to do the investigation and its the bank that would put the funds back into your account.

As with any other company, they would not just give you money back either.

 

That would be like someone getting your credit card information and going to Walmart.com (you still have to setup an account at Walmart.com to make purchases) and making purchases with your credit card and then you going to Walmart customer service requesting
a refund. they are going to tell you the same thing you would have to file a fraud claim with your bank.

 

to be clear you cant gain any information in the account that has your credit card on file

However if you request that the card be removed you can if you ask for it
