NOTHING IS WORKING. External Hard Drive

So my external hard drive is not working at all when it was working perfectly fine last night. All of the games on it uninstalled, and none of them will reinstall. The hard drive does not show up on the xbox, even though it is plugged in and the blue light
is on. On top of that, all of my internal DLC content uninstalled as well and will NOT reinstall. PLEASE HELP! I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT!

External hard drive

External Hard drive was working for 9 months now xbox one doesn't detect it. Hard drive does show up when I plug it into my computer. I tried switching USB slots and hard reset nothing is working.

 

Xbox One not Connecting to External Devices

I'm having this same issue with my external hard drive as of today. I've swapped USB ports, checked my drive, and done the haRd reset on the xbox. Nothing is working

 

This has helped some users so give it a try. Disconnect the External HDD from the console. Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes.
Plug the power cord back in and restart the console (DO NOT connect the external HDD yet). Once the console is back up and operational reconnect the external HDD and test for results. Let us know. Good Luck!

 

Attach your HDD to your PC or Laptop to confirm that the HDD itself is still working; physical impacts or power surges can affect the data on the device. If the device shows on your PC or Laptop as needing formatting, then it will still be in the Xbox One
format. Try a different USB port on the Xbox One and place the device in this, and then perform the hard shutdown and restart of your console. Hope this helps.

 

HDD is still working, no update on the problem

 

If it is not recognized on a PC or XBox One it sounds like the hard drive failed in some way. How long have you had the external HD? What is the make and model? If it is less than a year old you should be covered under the manufacturer's warranty for a replacement
HD.

 

It is a 1TB SeaGate, I just got it in January

 

Here are some steps that has helped some users gain access to the external drive.

1. Disconnect the external HDD - Power on your xBox (do not plug in drive yet)

2. Go to the side menu to settings

3. Go to System, then storage

4. Scroll over to Manage storage area. (you will see the internal storage)

5. Plug in the new drive.

6. The drive should now be available for managing.

This might sound silly but have you tried swapping out your USB cable? Make sure its a USB 3.0 certified cable.

You might also want to try using the other USB ports on the Xbox One. There's two on the back and one on the side.
