For me and gaming, Nothing is more important then communication with friends as we game.

I have a gaming Platoon of over 200 Adult Gaming Friends. FPS BATTLEFIELD, WSOP POKER

I am also deciding if we as a group should (all or most of us) move to Xbox One or Not?.. Stay just stay on 360? PS4??

I will prob get an xbox one anyway... unless I get a bad vibe.. here youtube and other forums..

What is the max party size on Xbox One?

Does xbox one have a dedicated communication system?

Is this System Skype or other?

If you're going to make a switch, depending on the games you prefer I'd go with the xbox one. The PS4's voice chat leaves a lot to be desired in comparison. I also believe the social aspect such as upload, game clips and others are better than PS4.

 

I honestly believe you should make a switch. I can't live without my xbox one. literally. I would die. :]

On the Xbox One, you can message players via text, but there is (as yet) no voice messaging. However, you can still chat with voice via Skype or party chat (which are considered 2 separate entities, although the technology itself used for the 2 may be the
same). For the latter, you can have a maximum of 8 attendees, just like with the Xbox 360.

I agree the social and communication side of XBL is important. XBL has been having issues the past two days especially with friends and it affects Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 and Xbox 1 smart glass too.

When XBL has issues (they're had them so far twice this year), when playing on Xbox 360, I use Game Chat that always tends to work especially when XBL Party is broken due to issues.

I also prefer the 360's UI as it's familiar and more youth friendlier than the Xbox 1's UI which many peps on here on XBL and my friends say it's simply too Windows 8 which we don't quite like about it. And it looks too grown up too compared to the 360 UI.
Probably why Xbox 1 doesn't have Voice Messages and change the Dash background is because they stuck a PC OS on an Xbox, or the Windows 8 styled UI (even thought Xbox 1 has 3 OS a windows kernel, Xbox os, hypervisor) needs to be programmed to understand what
I like to call Xbox Language. Probably why so many Xbox Live Features were missing when Xbox 1 launched.

 

Ray, you're mistaken. You can have up to 8 participants in party chat, not Skype. As for how many participants are allowed in the Skype app, I'm actually not sure, but I imagine it's the same as however many are allowed on the PC version of Skype.

Yes, you can invite players to your game and to your party.

The Xbox One uses a notification system similar to the Xbox 360, so if someone sends you a message/invite/etc., you'll see it pop up on the bottom of your screen. If you hold down the Xbox button in the middle of your controller, it will go to the message/accept
the invite/etc. The message/party/etc. will then pop up on the right side using the snap-center.

 

Just be aware, like most things, the service is not always perfect and sometimes will stop you from playing with your friends like the resent issues, but to be honest, since the consoles release I have played online quite a bit and I have to say the overall
experience has been smoother then the Xbox, I've hardly ever lagged in a game, it's been amazing in that sense. I say make the switch.
