Nothing for me Microsoft? Realy?

Excited to get the Elite Controller when they were first announced, I got one right away. Within 3-4 months the left thumbstick is flopping around in the controller. A few months later, and the right shoulder button is only connected on the left side.


3 month warranty of course, and when I complain about the wasted money, they offer a list of free games! That are Free to Play...

I'm not paying to repair the controller, I'm not buying another one... Luckily I have an older, regular controller, and I can just mount my Elite Controller on the wall as a daily reminder to only buy third party and aftermarket hardware.

I don't understand how they think this is ok. If it were a car, they would be forced to issue a recall...

If you're in the US then it's a dead-end but if you're in the UK then a dispute can be in place since.

 

The default warranty (of 90 days) on the Elite controllers are a joke for such a premium-priced accessory. I'd really wish they'd do something about that.

All too often I've seen threads about problems with these controllers, and stuff usually starts breaking suspiciously after the warranty expires. There was obviously not a lot of confidence in designing it to be sturdy. It's a lot of reasons why I never
bought the Elite controller.

BlacklightHalo is right. Due to a UK (or EU?) trade law, they get their warranties extended to a year I think. US customers are still stuck with the measly 90 days.

The only way you could get piece of mind with this controller is through additional warranties on top of the manufacturer's:

- Buying the controller straight from Microsoft gives you the option of extending the warranty to a year or two for an extra fee.

- Some retailers (Walmart, Target, ...) also offer extra warranties (often bought at the register), depending on where you shop.

- There's also a kind of replacement warranty you get if you simply purchase it with a credit card (I know American Express does something like this). Look into that if that's your case, you might be in for a surprise!
