OP. Where is your Rise of the Tomb Raider is 1080p thread? If we are going to start making threads like this, expect one for every 1080p game.

 

XB1 won't play at 1080p

There is a 1 star review of this TV on Amazon that says that even though it's advertised as "1080p full HD" it can only accept inputs up to and including 1080i, not 1080p. The Xbox One does not support any interlaced resolutions, only progressive, so your
problem may very well be the TV.

Here's a thread on another forum where a guy is having a problem trying to get a 1080p upscaling DVD player to work with the same TV, but it won't work. The first reply says: -

"Your HDTV model accepts 1080i input signals max (just like my current 1080p DLP). It does not work with 1080p input signals."

So, unfortunately, it seems that your TV is not capable of accepting a 1080p input and the Xbox One only outputs at 720p, 1080p etc. not 720i or 1080i and that's why it doesn't work.

 

Wolfenstein doesn't have the best graphics, but they are crystal clear and it runs silky smooth. I haven't seen a frame-rate stutter yet. 1080p and 60fps makes a difference. I have a 42 inch and I sit about 3 feet away. I'm practically on top of my tv.

 

it wont stutter because it users a vsync like buffer to lower resolution on the to keep frame rate.

XB1 version is rendering anywhere from 1980 X 1080. to 1440 X 1080

Mist, looking at the images you've provided, I have noticed a difference, however IMO it's practically negligible in most cases. Also, a few .gifs are not going to be representative of the actual game in motion on a full-screen HD display, especially since
those images could easily be doctored or manipulated (for example, just because 1 side says it's Xbox One, doesn't mean it actually is). For these reasons as well as the fact that I'm not going to be playing both versions of the game side-by-side to notice
the differences anyway, I'm just going to stick with the console that I prefer (the Xbox One) and have fun playing its games for their stories and gameplay mechanics, not for their graphics.

 

This is the video, also if you check streams you can spot the lighting deffrences, ALSO 900p will look better on a screen than 792p too another edge. (wont see resolutiuon diffrnces in the video.

Xbox watch dogs looks dull and flat without AO.

It is very noticeable in motion and seeing as watch dogs has a lot of slow paced activities the diffence is quite jarring. I wonder what else the xbox will be missing.

 

I have no doubt that one version of the game will look a tiny bit better here and there, this really isn't an issue for the majority of people though. 99.9% of people wont be playing an X1 & PS4 game side by side to even notice any difference. Whichever
version people go for, I'm sure they will be more than happy with how it look's.

 

I'm not having a go at anyone, I still struggle that some are out looking for every detail, looking for differences. Even sites like Eurogamer, they have massive articles comparing which versions look better. They even admit, they sit there for days, getting
to the same point of a level on 2 different versions, pausing it and then more comparing. Maybe these sites should put this much effort into their reviews.

Personally, I have no interest in how many pixels a game is throwing about, all I need to know from the performance side of the game is that it doesn't slow down to such a rate that the game becomes unplayable, thankfully up to yet all the games I've played
have been fine.

And for what it's worth, even though I don't sit there, pausing a game and focusing on every detail but from just playing games through normally, the best next gen game visually in my opinion so far is Ryse: Son of Rome, not even a 1080p title.

I wonder if when Minecraft lands on XB1/PS4 in August, will these games be compared in the visual department? hopefully just like the last game, people will be too busy having fun with the game, like it should be.

 

@Lofty sites only do the comparisons for clicks. I remember back in the day I never saw a comparison article of SNES/Sega games. Its truly mind-blowing the amount of time these "journalists" put into such things. If they would acknowledge that Ryse and Rage(last
gen) blow everything out of the water we could finally move on from this nonsense.

I've said it before though, gaming journalism is not in a good way if it takes "click bait" articles to get people onto their sites.

 

"click bait" is a subjective term.

These sites are there to make sure companies can't go spread FUD about competing platforms (like MR. pennelo talking bout the ps4 on neogaf and spreading misinfo)

These sites protect consumers from shamless corprate propoganda. (like mr pennelo)

It stings for xbone users cause they get the short end. But these sites report metric data to protect the consumer.

wanna know what "click bait" really is? when IGN posts an image that is 640 X 480 or less and uses that same image resolution to show that so and so game looks the "same" and "resolution doesnt matter"

Now not meaning to sound big headed, I don't have my own PS4 anymore ( I sold it on ) my daughter still has one which I will use for any exclusives I want.

I have my Xbox One.

I have a PC that's more than capable of playing the likes of Watch Dogs, Battlefield 4 on the highest settings so these games would look a lot better than anything either console has to offer so yeah it really stings me.

You say companies spreading FUD, they all do it, haven't Sony been caught out a few times lately, claiming certain games were running at a certain resolution, then we find out it wasn't quite true?

Who cares, just enjoy the games, that's me out of this thread, another one that will just go around in never ending circles.

 

can a mod please delete this flame thread. so 24 gets banned and u get a sony troll like this that doesnt. iv seen watchdogs beside the ps4 version and there wasnt much dif. wolfenstein has already been on that sony fanpage digital foundry and the 60fps
never dropped also both versions are NATIVE 1080p unless ur calling the devs liers

 

Neogaf got banned from E3 that's how "reliable" there info is.

Every review of wolf had the Xbox version in front, textures, lighting etc

So what if both versions drop res slightly to maintain game play, with the more defined, detailed textures you would expect the res variable to be different.

Still the overall review is that wolf is better on the xbox.

As lofty said ryse is by far the best next gen game, and that's not even 1080p
