NOT THE MOST TECH SAVVY, PLEASE HELP?!!

I have tried reading and understanding other posts but I have not idea what it all means.

OK was thinking about purchasing a Xbox One console, as I have noticed there aren't any new 360 games being released. My daughter were so excited for Crash Bandicoot Trilogy and we're sadly disappointed it didn't come out in 360. Although connected to the
internet, my girls don't play online, therefore they don't have an Xbox live account.

So my questions to hopefully be answered so I can comprehend the information.

1. Can Xbox360 game discs be played in am Xbox One?

2. I tried understanding something about some compatiblity something. What is it? Why and how it gets used?

3. As I was reading the posts, I was in the mind that both consoles were needed? Do I need to keep both

Hopefully below should help you a bit

1. Xbox 360 game discs can be used in Xbox One however the console needs to be online as it must download the backwards compatible version of the game. Please note the game disc is still required after downloading the game unless the game was purchased through
the marketplace.

2. With backwards compatibility Xbox One will run and Xbox 360 game along with an additional piece of software that (Emulates) the Xbox 360 on the Xbox One

3. Providing the Xbox 360 games you are wishing to play can also be played on Xbox One via backwards compatibility then there is no need for both consoles

There are new and special releases of xbox 360 games through Xbox Live/One that can be played on both Xbox 360 and xbox one.

But note that these are re-manufactured to be able to do so and you would have to purchase them or get them through xbox live.

Therefore, if you wish to continue playing your old 360 games (and the special release of it has not been made available through xbox live for repurchase), you will need to keep both systems.
