Not sure if my Xbox One controller capable of charging...

Let me start off by saying I don't actually own an XB1. I bought an Xbox One controller at a Goodwill.

I've tried plugging this controller into my computer with both the included micro USB cable and a random micro USB cable I had lying around the house. I also took it to a fighting game event and tried plugging it in with the stock micro USB cable to an Xbox
One onsite. The computer also doesn't detect the presence of the controller, even if I turn it on (while I know there are no drivers for the device yet, I would at least think the computer would try to install it anyway).

In all cases, the controller never acted like it was charging (the Xbox logo nor the included micro USB cable never lit up; the micro USB cable also didn't seem to work with anything else I plugged it into but I don't know if that's because that micro USB
only works with the controller or not). The battery seems to have charge already because the Xbox logo will light up if I press it but plugging it never makes any sort of indication that the controller is charging.

Am I missing something here or do I need to talk to Xbox about maybe having some service done on this thing?

    :)

    Xbox One S wireless controller

    Hey there!

Yes, there is a difference between the Xbox One controller and the Xbox One S controllers. As you've mentioned, the Xbox One S controllers have Bluetooth capability whereas the original series does not. You can sort of tell the difference when you look at
the controller itself. If the area around the Xbox guide button matches the controller, it likely is a Bluetooth capable controller vs an original one. A good example is the difference between the

    Lunar White Controller
(non-Bluetooth capable) and the new white
    Xbox One Controller
(Bluetooth capable). You can see the difference in the controller around the guide button. If you see a controller in the store that you like, you can always check on the web to see if it has Bluetooth or not.

Let us know if you have any other questions. Not sure if my Xbox One controller capable of charging... :)

Not sure if my Xbox One controller capable of charging...

I can tell you that the Xbox One controller is not supported by PC at this time. There are many posts about that, and here is the official MS info:

    support.xbox.com/.../controller-pc-compatibility

That being said, if you plugged it into a Xbox One and it don't work, that's probably why you found it at Goodwill- its probably defective. Try new rechargeable batteries and then plug it in

We're all good now. I took my controller into a Microsoft Store and when I pointed out it was still under warranty after they were unable to get it to work, they just gave me a new one and will warranty the faulty one.

    So hooray, all is well.

Does the USB Charger Make Your Controller Wired?

In answer to your question, no, using a cable from your console to the controller does not make it wired. The play and charge does not send data, it merely powers the controller and charges any compatible battery.

The Xbox One controller however will be capable of both wireless and wired connections.

My xbox controller is plugged in but wont connect to pc

    Hi

    What Xbox controller is it?

If it's an old Xbox 360 Wireless controller, note that these controllers are always wireless. You can't make them wired with a Play and Charge. The P&C only provides power. You need an Xbox 360 gaming wireless receiver. Note: it must be the 360 gaming receiver, the Xbox One dongles are not compatible.

If your controller is an Xbox One or Series X|S controller, try a different cable. Not all USB A to USB C cables are capable of sending data and power, many are just charging cables.

    chargers

I couldve sworn I seen somewhere that the wired cord comes with it... it comes with the controller when bought separately but I also remember reading the cord did not charge the batteries... only connected the controller to the console via a wire.. and had
    no charging capabilities ...

    My bad
