Not sure how to share Xbox Live Gold Home from Xbox One on a Xbox 360

Thanks in advance for any help. I have asked the folks over at the local game store and they are just confusing me. Here is the deal, I have a Xbox One and a Live Gold Home account. I have myself, wife, and 3 kids all using this Live account on the One just
fine. My oldest son has an Xbox 360, and his old Live gold membership expired. He is wanting to use the Gold Live membership on his 360. Everything seems to work but online multiplayer games. He thinks his account is a silver account and that he has to buy
his own Live Gold account. I thought the whole purpose of the Live Gold Home account was to NOT have to buy a second Live Gold membership. He claims it's because his 360 was not set up originally with my One account info. Any help would be appreciated. Even
clarification would be nice.

Looks like Microsoft has released additional info on how the Xbox One Digital sharing will work when the system launches. Little change up, but its interesting their is no mention of Xbox family share. Guess you have to be logged in at a friend's house.

To do that, we had to think about how the system would work and thrive in one of the busiest rooms in the house that many people share. We wanted to create a system that was highly personalized but also social. It’s about celebrating your individual tastes but also making it welcoming and easy for people to share. Here’s what that looks like.

Sharing Digital Games

Everyone in your home can share digital games with each other. Your Xbox One can become your virtual game library filled with digital games that different people in the home bought. Anyone can pick any digital game on your Xbox One, sign in with their own gamertag and play – even if the owner is not signed in. Like physical media, you can also play many digitally downloaded games without being online, although experiences will be best when connected to the internet and Xbox Live. Finally, when you purchase a digital game, you can start playing even before the entire game downloads.

Because your digital games go with you, you can also use and share digital games when you sign in to another console. And, if you happen to buy a digital game when you are signed in on your friend’s console, your game will also be available on your Home Xbox One console for anyone to use.

Sharing Xbox Live Gold Benefits

At E3 this year, we briefly highlighted a new benefit we’re bringing to Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox One. We’re calling it Home Gold. It will enable any Xbox Live Gold member on Xbox One to extend many Gold features to others at no additional cost. One Xbox Live Gold account delivering great benefits to everyone in the home.

Here’s how Xbox Live Gold members can extend Gold benefits including multiplayer gaming, Game DVR, SmartMatch and access to entertainment apps and experiences, including The NFL on Xbox, Skype, Internet Explorer:

On Xbox One if you are an Xbox Live Gold member, you will be able to go to a friend’s house and play co-op multiplayer– even if your friend is not a Gold subscriber. Once you log in with your Xbox Live Gold account, everyone using that console can access multiplayer and entertainment apps for as long as you are logged in.

At Home with Xbox 360 and Xbox One

If you are an Xbox Live Gold member today, you are already set for Xbox One. Your Xbox Live Gold membership for Xbox 360 will seamlessly become an Xbox Live Gold account on your Xbox One and you will be able to enjoy Xbox Live Gold features on either console. You can even be logged in to Xbox 360 and Xbox One at the same time. Home Gold benefits are exclusively for Xbox One.

Only the One is able to share gold. In order for your son to play online on the 360 he would need to have his own gold subscription.

Hello Samantha,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Are the accounts being used on an Xbox One or Xbox 360? The Xbox One has a feature called My Home Xbox. This feature allows one account to share Xbox Live Gold and games to other accounts on the console.
The article entitled
How to Designate an Xbox One Console as Your Home Xbox will explain how to set this up. If the accounts are being used on an Xbox 360, the subscription is not able to be shared to each account. Be sure to let us know the results!

I recommend taking a look at the following article:

Xbox 1 ( Gold subscriber) - Make sure it is not set to home Xbox

Xbox 2 - Gold subscriber account needs to be the home Xbox to initiate the sharing.

Try this out and let us know the results.

If only one account has gold then that account can get onto xbox live on any console regardless of the "my home xbox" feature.

Xbox live sharing does not work on xbox 360, so you will need more subscriptions for each other account that doesn't have gold.

On the xbox one the my home xbox feature will share xbox live gold and digital games (not all DLC) to all other accounts on that console when the account with gold is the "my home xbox" account but that does not share to backwards compatible games on xbox
one.

Actually you didn't have to get him his own gold subscription as you can share gold on the xbox one.
