not so next gen

It is troubling that a franchise that has been made great by US the legendary XBOX fan base. Had to resort to some misleading activity about the XBOX ONE. I am very disappointed in this system. many of us have a significant investment in the gaming empire
and I feel like its a slap in our face to promote a product as NEXT GENERATION. When its not. This game console will need to go back until XBOX makes the much needed patches IF you do not have an XBOX ONE already. You may want to wait until the patches are
active. Because this ONE will not play any of the games we have had so much fun with. The 360 is the best investment I ever made. IT plays the games from the original XBOX. This is what next gen is all about. IT would seem that the people behind this Franchise
has forgotten it.

The point is that nither next gen console don't not have next gen res. And 1080p is not next gen either.

The PS4 doesn't have backwards compatibility either.

 

It wouldn't work even they wanted it to work, The architecture between the two consoles has a massive difference therefore rendering old Xbox games useless on the XboxOne.

 

And your answer is based on what? Something you just heard? Where is your research? All computer tech needs to connect with the proper files to run programs. You can disable programs but they are never rendered obsolete..

 

To begin with, this is posted in the wrong forum section as this one is dedicated to offer support and help for people and their 360 games. Posts like this push down other posts from people who are in actual need of help, not coming here to rant - you should
have posted this in the console feedback section of the forums.

But to address your "rant", what you are suggesting (360 compatibility with the One) is no easy task. The processors in the two machines are wildly different, they use completely different instruction sets at the most basic level to communicate with the
rest of the hardware (RISC vs CISC). This is not just a difference in OS, it runs much deeper than that. Yes, it is probably technically possible to do but doubtful it could be done well through software emulation. There is not as big a gap in performance
between the 360 and the One in terms of the CPU as there was in the previous generation and games are more complex. Ever wonder why not all Xbox original gams work on the 360? Because they had to code them in batches that used similar programming techniques,
so some games were just to complex to run properly in emulation without major work. And many of the games do have issues as well that do run. For an example, while Intel Macs can run legacy PPC through emulation (Rosetta) it does not mean all programs run
well. Anything that is resource intensive (such as games) either do not run or don't run well at all in emulation.

Finally, I was not aware that for a console to be next gen it had to run old games. I thought they were to run new games designed for it at greater resolution and incorporate new ideas. Sounds to me like you are stuck in the past generation, and there is
still the 360 to let you do that as Microsoft will continue to support it for a few more years. Only a handful of consoles have had BC, and some removed that feature over time (PS3, Wii).

 

To add to dlCHIEF58's comment the games are also designed for the specific hardware of the Xbox 360. This is why games like The Witcher 2 can run smoothly on hardware that wouldn't even be able to start it on the PC.

All Xbox 360 games are specifically designed to take advantage--and exclusively use--of specific calls which are designed for one specific chipset. Even if you could get past the PPC to x86 Architecture differences in the two consoles--which you cannot without
a lot more raw processing power on the One--every single game would have to be reprogrammed and patched by the developers in order to use the new hardware versus the old stuff, optimizations that worked beautifully on the 360 would also lead to crippling frame
rate stutters on the One.

Off-topic but when did the Wii stop playing GameCube games?

The last iteration of the Wii removed backwards compatibility for Gamecube games. They did this a year or two ago. The last bundle that had GCN backwards compatibility was the Mario Cart bundle.

 

The xbox one and ps4 wasnt designed for that the consoles only have certain room for certain objects they built more graphic engines into it so it is the next gen of graphics if you want to play dvd play it on a PC if you want to play blu ray buy a blu ray
player for your tv or else man up and deal with it
