Not receiving invites from people not on my friends list

Lately I've been having an issue where I can't receive party chat or game invites from people who I'm not friends with. My NAT type is open and I've redownloaded my profile onto my X1, but it hasn't resolved.

cant receive game invites from people not on friends list

The problem is not with friends. People on my friends list can invite me. People who are not on my list can send me messages but nothing else.

Hey there!

This may have been related to a service alert up yesterday, are you still experiencing this issue? If so, power cycle your Xbox One console by holding the power button for 10 seconds.

Hey Benny!

I see you mentioned that you cannot receive messages/invites from people that are not your friends. Have you checked that your Xbox Live privacy settings allow contact from people that are not your friends? Double check that on your end. Additionally, it
is possible that the other users have their settings set to not be able to contact people they are not friends with as well.

Hi there, my privacy settings do allow for invites from everyone. Could it be I need to forward the ports on my router and set a static IP? Or would a LAN cable connection eliminate any NAT type errors?

Alright. Are you sure the people trying to send you stuff have their privacy settings set to allow communications between everyone, not just friends?

If you're able to connect your console via Ethernet cable, that's always going to be the better option over Wi-Fi.

Hi there EightZero3 you will not receive an invite from anyone on here, its recommended you ask people on your friends list(bound to be one in the preview program) for an invite. Head on over to the general discussion forums for a invite.

The problem is not with friends. People on my friends list can invite me. People who are not on my list can send me messages but nothing else.

I suspect Misses Quinzel had a slight forgetful moment and meant to say that it's not affecting friends. You'll still want to run through her suggestions first before we can try other things.
