Not receiving adapter/controller update--incompatible headset?

Today, I purchased the headset adapter so that I could finally use the mic on my
Turtle Beach XP Seven.

I am having absolutely zero luck trying to get my controller updated to have my headset fully compatible.

This is what I've done so far.

1. By default, the XP7 was connected to the audio control unit. The chat cord was attached to the control unit, which was then fed into the cord that enters the headset adapter. The headset adapter was plugged into the controller, which did not have its battery
pack inside it. Then, while the Xbox One was on, and my profile was signed into XBL, I connected the included USB cord between the side-port and my controller, which after a second or two, triggered the 'update' request. I followed the on-screen options, and
when it got to the updating page, it then failed at 0% a few seconds later with this error: "There was a problem updating your controller."

2. I decided to skip the audio control unit altogether on my second attempt. By using one of the included cables that directly attaches the XP7 to the 3.5mm jack on the headset adapter, I tried to imitate a scenario where I would be using a generic stereo headset
for set-up. I then followed all the same steps as listed in attempt #1. I was more hopeful, but yet it failed the exact same way.

Not sure what I can do at this point. I've run out of options. Without the update, I am only able to either use the headset on Dolby with Kinect as my chat source, or use the XP7 mic for chat but be restricted to flat stereo audio.

Also it should be noted that my console is fully updated, and I am using the Titanfall controller.

Any help, information, or suggestions will be valued.

Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter Issue

I purchased a stereo headset adapter about a month ago. I followed the instructions for the controller update, only to receive an error saying that there was a problem with the update. After much troubleshooting, I was able to successfully update the controller
only after removing the adapter from my controller. I then plugged the adapter back in for use and received a prompt that I needed to update my controller. When I attempted to run the update, I received the same "problem with update" error message. After contracting
MS for support, I was told that I needed to get a new controller - which I did. I'm now receiving the same errors with the new controller. Anyone know how I might fix this?

TL;DR: Receiving a prompt to update my controller every time I connect my headset adapter, even though my controller has already been updated. Experiencing the same issue on two different Day One edition controllers. Fix?

 

How do we update the controller? NO USB Cable comes with Xbox One.

So Titanfall controller update is done by over air, no cable, (February update) and Stereo Headset Adapter controller update you need an cable, which comes with the adapter (March update).

 

Seriously man? Its in the system settings. SETTING - SYSTEM - UPDATE CONTROLLER

 

I think you seem to be ignorant, or mistaken.

I know very well that I can go to the settings to update the controller. A pop-up message also appears on screen when I plug the controller with the adapter attached that I have to 'update my controller.'

It is when I click yes and actually TRY to update it, that it attempts to, and fails.

Now, do you have any helpful answers?

 

Im ignorant obviously. It could be that the servers are timing out due to heavy loads? I've updated 3 controllers. No, problems. No messages popped up with me on any of them while being plugged in. Try hard reset and then doing the update. Do it with
just the MS adapter connected. Highly doubtful your actual headset is incompatible.

 

Does the update automatically begin when you power on your system? Reason I ask is because yesterday when I turned mine on, I had an update, but wasn't sure what the update was for. I'm guess it was just the controller update?

Ayumifan, I was actually using that as my original set-up guide. However, everything has been securely connected and reconnected several times over. It just doesn't seem to want to update for me. Oh well. After better review of this forum it seems many individuals
are having similar problems. I'm sure this will be addressed soon enough.

 

UPDATE!

It appears as though it's a software issue.

I actually managed to get the audio and chat working with my XP7. How? You tell me.

Despite all the update 'fails', plugging in the adapter with the chat cable installed AFTER the controller has turned on and synced seems to be working.

The 'would you like to update' prompts still pop up, but I just cancel them. This little get-around seems to work. For now.

 

Will the controller update without the adapter plugged in? I haven't updated my controller yet.

 

You have to have the battery plugged in as well as a USB cable to updated the controllers. I updated my controller that I usually use (had the battery plugged in) and then tried to do my spare only for it to fail twice. I popped in the battery pack and it
updated just fine so I think it needs the battery plugged in.

 

Yes, the instructions that come with the adapter is misleading, it instructs you to remove the battery, but you need the battery plugged in. Also try the update with the headphones and adapter connected to the controller

 

I have this same issue and it IS a problem. I manually updated my firmware for each of my controllers BEFORE getting by XO Seven. Now whenever I plug in the headset it prompts me to update firmware (although the sound is already working). When I try and
update it fails without giving an error, then my controller will no longer sync.

This is incredibly annoying and I hope that MS either fix the console's firmware to stop asking me to update or release another firmware update for the controller which fixes the syncing issue.
