    NOT Playing Movies (DVD or BLU-RAY)


    As of today (2-19-15) my brothers XBox has STOPED playing movies, both DVD and BLU-RAY. Instead it will go to the BLU-RAY Player App and the only options that are displayed are Pin to Homescreen/
    Unpin From     Homescreen. Can anyone please help.

    Xbox One imported from other region

    Each Xbox One console is manufactured for a specific Blu-ray and DVD region, following international standards. The Xbox One console can play Blu-ray discs and DVDs that are sold in the same region as the console.

    Some Blu-ray discs and DVDs are not region-encoded or are coded to all regions. Region-free Blu-ray discs and DVDs will play on any Xbox One console.

    Blu Ray over DVD rom ? For Movies it's great but games ??

    Or maybe you play your PCs games on Blu Ray dics.

    Sorry to hear it. Can you please try the following steps:

    1. Go to Settings

    2. Go to Disc & Blu Ray

    3. Uncheck Enable BD Live

    4. Click Persistent Storage and Clear It 3 times

    5. Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds until it shuts down.

    Hopefully this will solve the issue for you.

    Hi,

    Can you check if your console can read DVD discs please? To do this just insert a DVD movie disc. If it works, the console will load the Blu-ray Player app (make sure this this downloaded from the Xbox Store).

    Note that the disc you try must be a DVD not an Xbox One or a Blu-ray movie disc.

    If your console won't start the DVD movie disc then this indicates a fault with your Xbox One Blu-ray drive. These drives contain two lasers, one for DVD's and one for Blu-ray discs. Xbox One disc games are on Blu-ray, Xbox 360 games are DVD's.

    The drive contains separate lasers for the DVD and Blu-ray disc reading. Xbox one titles are on Blu-ray, while the others are on DVD. Please try a Blu-ray movie in the drive and see if it works

    DVD sales 6 x more than blu ray disc. Guess people just want to see a good movie without the added cost that Blu Ray and Digital Streaming brings en.

    Dont forget. Most Blu Rays sold New in the States come packaged with a DVD copy of the movie as well. If they didnt do that they likely wouldnt sell Blu Ray movies at all. :)

    xbox one games do not read but other discs do

    Hi there. Xbox One Discs are Blu-Ray and use a different laser to DVD's (Xbox 360 games are also DVD's) If you have a Blu-Ray Movie to try you can see that if that doesn't work, then the Blu-Ray part of your optical drive is probably faulty.
