That won't happen unless they can increase power for all existing Xbox One's.

  2. Yes but besides swapping components for better components, I don't think there was anything taken out or removed from the first model Xbox 360.

While I can agree chameleon, no one expected sony to rip the console to bits just to make it cheaper. They waited. Xbox one will have a price drop in time. That's guaranteed. Whether anything is left if the original console after all the complaints is yet
    to be seen.

    [/quote]

I don't think it'll be complaints that cause Microsoft to move another direction ( if they choose to) but rather an understanding of what's going to appeal to people looking to buy the console.

All the multi-media stuff the One can do I have other tech in my house ( 11 alone for Netflix, Hulu, etc ) that do it better because it's what they are designed to do and significantly cheaper. The only thing the One can do that those items can't is play One
exclusive games and that's why I own the system. I think a lot of people fall into this category.

You made a comment about it being boring if the One was just a gaming console but the reality of it is...it is a gaming console. It's great if it can do other things but it needs to do what only it can do better than anyone else.

  4. Not much sense!

I'm hearing rumors of a cheaper model minus disc drive AND one minus Kinect. It's all speculation but I won't believe the discless X1 until I see it. I refuse to believe MS would do something that dumb. They've made some mistakes lately but that would be
an epic fail. The minus Kinect version also makes more sense if they wanna lower price because disc drives are pretty cheap these days and would not save them much money.

  5. If Microsoft do decide to bring out a X Box One digital version then a lot needs to change with X Box Live.

1st while can't games be downgraded in price to reflect their age ? take Rare's Banjo Kazooie 9.99 this not really except able for a 20 year old game it should be a lot cheaper half price even. The same also applies to films too.

    2. Games with Gold need to be more recent !

    3. Microsoft need to come up with a answer to Gaikai, as a bigger online games catalog will influence potential buyers in the future.

    4. family subscription or discounts to house's with more then one account.

To me this makes more sense then just launching a digital console to cut down on price etc.......

  6. To #4, on the Xbox One, if one account on an Xbox One has Gold, doesn't every account have Gold? I'm pretty sure I heard that in one of the Microsoft announcements, forget which one but I don't think that was something that was backtracked.

    I love this idea.

    .

Some speculate that it will go down to $400....and then if they release a Kinect-less version it will go down another $100.

    .

I already have a PS4 and a PS3 so I don't need another system with a Blu Ray player. If I could get a X1 @ $400 with no Blu Ray player....that would be sweet.

  8. Not much sense!

I'll bring out a point I haven't seen brought up yet. If I don't think about it, it would be a reasonable way to get a cheaper xbox one to remove the blu ray disc (cause I do have now at least two other blu ray players, my PS3 and my PS4). And even though
I am obviously biased towards PS, I wouldn't object to an xbox one if I could get it cheap enough (it will be years before it gets to a price point I find worth it honestly as I only want it for the single player exclusives and they have yet even to have one
that I'd buy a console just to play that game). But when I think about one thing that isn't relevant to me now but no promise it will stay that way, I think it might be a bad idea not to have a blu ray reader in my game console (Some people might consider
    this even now).

I'm talking about the fact that some people have data caps on their internet plan (and it seems to be the way things are going sadly). Without a blu ray disc, you'll have to download all your games and use more data on your internet to do so. And if you
have a data cap, especially a smaller one, that could become a real issue especially if you go through games quickly (Plus it takes longer to download/install the games). It wouldn't affect me now cause I'm lucky as my provider doesn't have data caps, but
that isn't gauranteed that will stay the same. And since you really don't have much choice on data providers (You get to pick from the few that are in your area), it's not like there is competition to keep them honest. Add in now that they have said the FCC
can't regulate internet providers from making a distinction how you use your data. You might find more internet providers asking you to pay more for any data used gaming related.

Of course, one could argue that this is a problem of the fact internet providers are putting on data caps (and now can differentiate between how you use your data), but that doesn't change the fact they are doing it (Even if they don't differentiate you
have plenty of providers that just put an overall cap period on your internet use).

  9. Either discless or kinectless or both it really is awesome. More choices for consumers the better. This is what competition brings us. I wouldn't recommend anyone go all digital and being locked in to Marketplace prices but the option to get the console
    cheaper is good.

  10. I hear what you're saying. But the first Xbox 360 sold for $400 with 20GB HD. Wasn't long before coming out with a larger HD (120GB), and cheaper. Just saying, it could happen. Could even be a very subtle increase in power. Reason could be, just to replace
with better components. Something along those lines. Then a few years down the road, an even larger increase in power. I'm not ruling anything out.

my cable ISP just put me on a tiered data plan last month, pisses me off and not only because i will most likely go over my limit every month, but after i go over 75% of the limit they put a banner across the top of any webpage i'm viewing telling me i'm
at XX%, and keeps showing up every few percent... people want to talk about how greedy MS is, have a look at some of the cable companies in the USA, they are prime examples of why competition is good for consumers.

@Zero Divided That sucks. What's worse is I bet you really don't have any competition to go to either? I mean I'm lucky not only that Verizon installed FIOS in my neighborhood (My friend who lives 5 minutes away doesn't even have access to FIOS and has to
deal with Comcast) but that Frontier took over for them (Cause Verizon has caps I believe. But Frontier hasn't implemented that). It's not like I saw they had a better deal and could choose.... I just got lucky they decided my neighborhood was worth it to
    install FIOS in.

yup, only other option is is DSL, and i don't really consider that an option since they will have higher latency, and FIOS has not been rolled out to the curb yet anywhere in city limits.

    ---

so yeah, on topic, i can see MS dropping the Bluray before taking the Kinect out of the box, it does support their earlier vision of a digital future, but i will stick with the configuration to avoid overages and only download games with a high replay value,
    like Titanfall.
