Not legal for Microsoft to block re-sale of digital games in EU!

I would like to know if anyone but me find it strange that we still can not sell our copies of digitally downloaded games inside the EU? Already in 2012 the courts in the EU ruled that it is NOT LEGAL to, in any way, block a buyer of digital software
from reselling it. Physical and digital software falls under the same rules inside the EU! They even stated that a EULA can not change this. It is simply illegal to do anything to block such re-sales. So WHY are Microsoft still allowed to tie our games to
our gamertag in a way that makes it impossible for us to sell our digital copies?

    :)

  2. Why not the BEST of both worlds?

@ Hellhog - The closed Digital System of Microsoft and Sony is not better than Steam, as there is no competition. Competition generally tends to means better price wars. Price wars means better choice for us consumers. When you only have 1 source for your
console digital sales, and that is the console maker themselves. You have a monopoly, and they can charge what they want.

    -

And you may not have it in what-ever country you have - But under the EU ruling, we are supposed to be able to sell our digital media - see EU ruling against Oracle, and on going case against Valve.

    -

Also. You can Gift on Steam, completely legal - please see below link - Although it is a little complicated like the original Xbox idea one it can be done.

    HI ThaWiz77,

Sorry you're having issues selling some of your digital games. At the moment it's not possible to resell any of your digital games from the Xbox One. I've read where Microsoft intends to change that, but there is not ETA on when a system like that would
be implemented. That said, if you have an idea like this I would suggest posting it at the
Xbox Feedback Site. Searching the site there is already a suggestion for this to up-vote.

to up-vote that idea if you would like. Microsoft has been pretty good about focusing on what the gamers want, and been knocking out the higher items in demand, so they definitely pay attention to what's posted.

    Hope this helps!

"Some of my digital games"? Today, in 2016, it is still not possible to re-sell ANY digital content on consoles. And Microsoft is not the only culprit in the marked. We all understand why it is like this. It's business. The less re-sale of games the more
profit for game companies. It's just... IT IS ILLEGAL inside the EU / EEC to intentionally block this kind of re-sale. And it has been AT LEAST since 2012. Do not tell me that Microsoft and other companies are not aware of this either. That would be insulting
our intelligence. And last but not least, there is NO excuse for this still being an issue since the required adjustments and code required to fix transfer of content from one account to another would take less than a week. So... I am not pleased when someone
tells me Microsoft are "pretty good about focusing on what gamers want". It's illegal. And it's all to make more money. Sure, this is what companies do when they get away with it. That does not make it right.

    Hi ThaWiz77,

Understand your feelings on this issue. Also note that this is a community driven forum, and is really dedicated only for support issues. Unfortunately no one on these forums would be able to assist with this issue, and the feedback site is the best and
only place you can request changes to the system like this.

Hope this helps and they put this feature in sooner than later. E3 is coming up in a few weeks, and if this is something they have road mapped you may hear them announce it there. No promises, but that's what I would wait for.

Actually, I have now read up on the progression of the laws being ironed out in the EU/EEC concerning re-sale of games and digital content and I was not correct in my initial statement. I stand corrected. Turns out there are no rights at this time concerning
this for the consumer. There are new laws in the works, but it is way too soon to say which way the chips will fall on this issue. Sorry if I was rude.
