    As a side note, I told 6 different people who aren't gamers at all about this just to get an opinion. They all agreed with the OP which I find interesting. I'm half on the OP's side and half on MS side.

  2. Okay so I see people using analogies that entail supermarkets outing up an item for sale and not letting you buy it, but that isn't the cas here. I went through the transaction, I owned it. In a super marks if that happens they cant make you return the items
    and neither should Microsoft. They took a license that I owns away. It doesn't mater if the price is 0 they let me go through with the transaction for $0 and that is their fault. So to strip the license is like saying I bought an apple and walks out of the
    store,they came out and said give it back it was sold at th wrong price....you cant do that.

    Last year Best Buy had a mistake where they were selling a $250 gift card for $5. I bought $40,000 dollars worth of gift cards. Transcation was completed and everything. They eventually canceled it (and rightfully so ) like I knew they would. Business will
    do what they want. You're welcomed to fight it but you'll lose since its in the tos. Me personally I'd be happy with the ten bucks and that my profile wasn't banned.

    Microsoft is the big dog and people are out for blood. Posed this this scenario to my girlfriend and she agrees with the O.P.. Then asked her if she mistakenly left a zero out of a car she was selling for $15,000.00 should $1500.00 be honored...her reply
    was, "That's different!". Lol.

    I would be happy with the $10.00 in this case, though wouldn't if I had a physical copy already home and they tried to "get it back".

    Was at a large retailer several years back looking for a toolbox. Found a very high quality box for $11.00 and knew it couldn't be right as more expensive boxes were much more money and cheaper quality. Long story short, found a manager, pointed it out,
    and he made the offer to purchase it at cost. I paid $46.00 for a very nice box, and they didn't make the any profit on a product that should have been marked $129.00; fair in the managers eyes and mine.

    Interesting thought.

    Survay 100 people (not the people here influnced by MS) asking.

    1) 'If a $90.00 digital game was listed as FREE, would you dl it?' - All 100 would say yes, correct?

    2) 'If the company contends that it was a mistake, would you give it back?' - I don't think they would.

    3) 'The company insists you give it back, and offers you $10.00. in digital currency' - Again, I don't think they'll go for it.

    Point is, words have meaning and FREE, at least to people outside MS influnce. Means just that.. FREE. While inside MS influnce, FREE could be interpreted as anything but free.

    You're holding a sign that reads. 'Free candy.' Give a random child on a crowed street candy, then after he takes a bite, ask for it back saying. 'I made a mistake, the candy isn't free but actually $90.00. Please return my candy.' and see what happens.
    You'll be lucky if the crowd, over hearing/seeing what you just did doesn't turn into a mob.

    Electro no poster here is influenced by MS that's clear from the style and conten of posts spread across different threads by the same posters. I may not agree with all of them al the time but I'm sure they are genuine gamers with their own opinions.

    The thing is the people who downloaded fallout & its season pass when it was free would have known it was only listed that way in error surely, if it was free microsoft would have made a big deal of it by advertising it to get positive attention.

    If i didnt have the game & pass would i of downloaded it for free if i had seen it ? yes of course, would i moan when they told me it was a pricing error and revoked the licence and gave me $10, no i would think myself lucky with that.

    People need to realise mistakes are made and they should be accepting of that, the examples in this thread show some are ok with it being a big issue when its not their mistake, but if it were then they would be happy to follow microsofts lead here.

    Couldnt agree more with Genchy when he says this is what is wrong with 2016 and beyond. Also im not under Ms influence and i have just applied common sense and what i believe is reasonable and fair to expect

    Right here is a good reason there are protections for digital type store fronts. The fact is, in the supermarket they tend to have an actual person who checks you out. And even with the self check they tend to have people watching over. If you have an
    item that rings up cheap but is not on sale there is that possibility they will not honor it. Really depends on the situation and the price difference. In the case of a digital store, like this instance with MS, the transaction is all done digitally. So
    there is no person checking the transaction at the time it happens. If the transaction is faulty then they need to have recourse to correct it. Something like this could cost a company a lot of money. And sure, this is MS. But imagine the damage to a smaller
    company if they had to honor a mistake like this.

  14. Yeah, but this case isn't that cut and dry either. There are people on twitter posting screenshots asking online support about the $0 price point. Those agents look it up and ask high up support and they told said people it was a legit promotion. In fact
    I found it as a deal on slick deals. So there were people looking into this, there were people seeing the price point and not doing anything to fix it.

    Anyways, as far as im concerned change the deals and prices all you want before a purchase is made. Stop them and say no you can't buy it for that before the transaction is complete, but if you made a mistake that lead someone to buying something for cheaper
    then intended then you should have to honor it. Maybe the money lose will teach you to keep a closer eye on this stuff or come up with better preventive measures. As apposed to just sitting back and saying "its okay we will force them to give it back, no need
    to take much precaution."

  15. I look at it as a pretty simple matter to be honest. If you are a company that has a digital store it could be as simple as having a section of the company that is devoted to looking over all of the content to make sure it is priced properly. Implement a
    system that gives alerts as soon as a price changes. Part of their job would be to verify if it is correct or not. They could have the ability to shut down the entire online store for the duration of fixing the wrong price point if they need to. Then they
    could send out emails to support to make sure they know this isn't the way it is supposed to be so they aren't giving out false information. Also support should have a way to contact people who actually know the answers to this and be forced to get the real
    information.

    and if every possible safeguard fails and you weren't able to prevent it....thats just the risk of getting into the digital market. You still chose to do so and there you have it..it was your choice to go into it knowing something like this could happen.
