    Not getting 4K 120hz on my Xbox One S and Sony Bravia A80CK


    Hi all. Have an Xbox One S, all updated with latest software. I have a Sony Bravia XR-55A80CK OLED TV. I just purchased a certified HDMI 2.1 cable and am using the HDMI input labeled “4K - 120hz” on the TV. I’ve gone into the tv menu and selected the 4K setting for that input. When I go into the Xbox display setup menu it shows 4K, and 60hz, and when I try to change the refresh rate to 120hz it’ll go black like it’s trying, and then comes back saying that refresh rate is not compatible with that resolution (4K selected for resolution). It’ll let me do 1080p @ 120hz, but not 4K. Anything I can do, or is my Xbox not capable of 4k@120hz?

    You are talking about a 14 year old cpu which at.the time.of.release was outdated

    The serires.x apu was.release only 2montbs prior

    The Xbox one.cpu.as.always there since.release only the xbox one x had a newer gpu

    Hi Mica,

    The Xbox One S doesn’t support 4K at 120Hz, so your best option would be either 1440p (Quad HD) at 120Hz or 4K at 60Hz. It all depends on whether you want to prioritise the resolution or refresh rate.

    The One S isn’t exactly true 4K - it upscales 1080p, unlike the One X models and above. You should still be able to watch 4K UHD films in native 4K (applies to both Blu-ray discs and streaming services like Amazon and Netflix), though.

    Also keep in mind that some games (FH5 for example) offer optimisation options - quality and performance modes to adjust the visual quality and smoothness. This is all based on personal preference as well.

    Just to be sure, you are connecting through the HDMI IN 3 or 4, correct? It looks like only those 2 inputs can do 120Hz.
