    Not enough storage even though game is installed


    So my buddy is having and issue with his xbox where he can play all his installed games but anything that updates or new he installs tells him not enough storage and he can't play even though he has only 77% taken on his 2 TB external and 90% free on internal????

    Tell your friend to format the external drive and factory reset the xbox console.

    See but he has done all of this he has erased games and factory reset his hole xbox and still he will fully install a game like it says done but then when he opens it it says not enough space and closes out

    Hi,

    Note that game updates can only be installed on the drive where the game is, they can't go to other drives.

    For example, game is installed on internal hard drive where there is only 5GB free but update is 6GB+. The game can't be updated because there isn't enough storage, even though there is plenty of free storage on external drive/s.

    Solution, move this game or other games to the other drive. Update can now be applied.

    The internal disk is probably set as the primary disk for installations. He can try to move games from the internal to the external drive so that it has enough space to install updates.

    i would not format yet, but i would reduce the amount of space used on the internal drive, if the updates are big enough it can demand the double the space of the download until completed.
