Not Connecting To XBox Live, Unable to Take Update

My kids hopped on last night and received a prompt to update the xbox (360 s). I told them to take the update. It first came back with an error stating that it needed 190mb of space to process the update. The main system had 1mb of space left. I do have
an external 1tb drive that the games are stored on. I'm assuming being unable to do the update and not being able to connect to xbox live may be connected. I did try clearing space on the main unit, it says the games are deleted, but they mysteriously come
back. I also show corrupted files in the system folder on the main unit. I'm at a loss. I've tried pushing the update via usb and I get an error code.

Unable to Apply Update because my XBOX won't connect

Sorry to hear you're having an issue connecting to download that update.

There are a few things you can try to both get the update and troubleshoot your connection.

How to get a new Xbox 360 update. I would suggest skipping down to the USB and CD solutions if you're having issues connecting to LIVE.

Just to clarify on the connection, is this a recent issue? Have you been able to connect fine in the past and it's just not connecting now?

Thanks I had tried all the methods possible. I order a 250gb slim hard drive from Amazon, it came yesterday and threw it in. The xbox asked or the update upon booting, I said yes and it took. What bothers me is that I am unable to remove any of the games
on the main memory unit. It says I am, but upon reboot everything is still there. I'm guessing the main 4gb flash memory is shot. Hopefully this fix will hold us over until Scorpio comes out next year.

I'm glad to hear the update took with the new 250gb Hard Drive. It's hard to say what's up with the 4GB flash storage, but I'm sure you'll be good to go for a while now. If the console is still under warranty you might want to look at getting it serviced,
but if not I'm sure you'll be fine with the new Hard Drive.

Sorry hit a wrong button, just woke up. Hopefully we'll get another year out of the box, it doesn't get used much. My wife want's to wait until next year to get the new box when it comes out.

I have the same error code. Cleared cache, tested Xbox Live connection - all good. Hard wired to network. Tried updating via USB but no success. Can play games but unable to take an update. Any ideas Xbox support????
