First of all, check for Xbox app updates: enter Microsoft Store app > select More ... (upper right corner) > Downloads and updates > Get updates.

Furthermore, be sure Windows has the latest update: select the Start button, then select Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates. If there is an available update, select Install now.

If the issue persists, try to repair/Reset Xbox app:

1. Select Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features
   
2. Select the Xbox app
   
3. Select the Advanced options link under the name of the app.
   
4. On the page that opens, select Repair if it's available. If it isn't available or doesn't fix the problem, select Reset.
   

If all the previous tries didn't solve the problem, try to reset the Xbox App account cache:

Go to this path in File Explorer:

%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider_8wekyb3d8bbwe\AC\TokenBroker

Here you will find two directories: Accounts and Cache. Each folder contains one file in it. Delete them both, and try to log in to the xbox app again.

i tried both things but it didnt help )=

As it would turn out, for whatever reason having the two step verification turned on in my security settings was preventing my console from being able to login with correct info. Once this was disabled in my account settings I was able to login just fine.

Anyway, chat support was able to help, and hopefully this will help others in the future with this same problem

Are you able to log in with a different account? If so, it may be an issue with your account.

Typically when I have login issues waiting about a day or two usually resolves the issue. It sucks not being able to play, but it's better than nothing.
