Not another resolution thread!!

I was under the impression that the PS4's GPU could push 1.7 TFlops /sec Compared to Xbones 1.2 TFlops/sec. What a bunch of liars. Thanks for setting the story straight.

 

ForeZee, did you not read my earlier posts (as well as those of many others)? Both consoles were designed and are powerful enough to handle 1080p and 60fps. This is proven because there are already games on both consoles that can do exactly that (examples
include Forza Motorsport 5 on the Xbox One and The Last of Us on the Playstation 4). It's the developers that are often having issues meeting those milestones, in large part because the Xbox One was harder to develop for. However, with the mitigation of resources
from the Kinect and the soon-to-be released DX12, it's becoming progressively easier for them to meet those milestones on the One. In essence, we are getting ever closer to 1080p and 60fps becoming the de-facto "standard" you're hoping for. Just you wait and
see. I'm not worried and neither should you.

 

Devs are obviously incapable. It's golf. Destiny is 1080p, Forza is 1080p 60fps, FH2 is 1080p, Sunset is 900p, H:TMCC is 1080 60fps, and these guys are stuck at 720p 30fps like they have thousands of zombies onscreen ala Dead Rising 3.

 

I tell you, that grass is hard to render dagnabbit! And you want it to sway in the breeze!? Gah!!!

 

Those saying that Forza is 1080p therefore Golf Club should be: That is textbook false logic.

And the "lazy devs" line - nonsense. The same dev achieves more than double the amount of on screen pixels on the other console. Is that laziness?

Bottom line is the PS4 GPU has 50% over the x1 GPU. The 10% of the x1 GPU reserved for kinect has been reduced (not removed) but that still leaves the 50%. That is why some games perform better on one platform.

But no-one bought an x1 believing it to be the most powerful console, right? People have bought them for reasons like that's where certain friends play, gamerscore, they like xbox exclusives etc.

So why nitpick every game that comes out? There will be small differences on multiformat games and cross-gen games too. Just play the games that you wanna play on whichever system you wanna play them on. Don't worry about the games and systems you are not
playing.

And resolutiongate is sooo November 2013. Its time to move on.

 

You laugh but EA's Tiger Woods series is the only game on my 360 that made it lag on certain holes. It took all that systems resources to run that game, and like I said it wasn't always smooth. I wouldn't poke fun at how graphically simple a golf game looks.
There are wind physics going on, bounce and spin physics for different conditions, wildlife. Each tree has its own swaying and leaves not to mention wildlife, clouds, rain, water ripple. All the different roughs and grasses, and they sway in the wing too.
Take all that stuff away and you end up playing a golf game that looks like the 9 hole in Los Santos. I wouldn't poke fun at the graphical intensity of golf games. HB studios is run by Devs who used to work at EA's golf studio. The game looks beautiful and
these guys know what their doing.

 

Well lloydy ,i agree ..I bought the one because i wanted a one ,period!

Love the kinect ,love ryse,love titanfall,ect...Not once did i or do i now stop to think how many tiny little pixels there are ,what i do do ,is enjoy them and how friggin gorgeous they look on my 65" panny ZT that is perfectly calibrated.To this i ask those
pixil counters,,,do you have a top of the line dialed in screen that you do your pixel counting on?If you don't then its pointless.

 

llioydy spot on advice from you for once time to listen to your own advice instead of posting utter rubbish on the sony forums about how the xb1 fails and how the xbox one is a brick and how ps4 kill zone is the best looking next gen game.when in fact its
not Ryse son of rome was voted it.

 

Don't try and start argument mb. I said the x1 has a separate power brick, which it does, not that it is a brick!

As for best looking game that is down to the personal opinion of each individual. A recent graphics conference named Ryse as best 8th gen graphics. The upcoming CEDEC has Killzone nominated"For excellence in the graphics technology for current generation
consoles." Ryse is not nominated.

But these are opinions, not facts. When it comes to "best graphics" the opinion which counts the most is your own.

 

I certainly wasn't referring to developers being lazy, Lloydy. There's a clear difference between saying that the developers are lazy and that they are still learning how to use the development tools effectively for each console.

Also, regarding the Kinect functionality, it hasn't been removed (like you already said) OR reduced. It's all still there - the developers just now have the option to use it for something else, performance-wise (like slightly better graphics or fps, etc.).

 

ANyway your right no arguments here welcome back to xbox one knew you would come back some day after 3 months away.All these new things must be mind blowing for you

GG I meant that the 10% GPU reserved for kinect has been reduced. Some of the GPU is still reserved for kinect functions, whether a kinect is used or not, hence why I said the 10% has been reduced not removed.

 

^ I agree with the above statement that when it comes to best graphics or gameplay ( which is the most important thing to me ) it's just down to personal opinion and it's different for everyone.

Just like the whole "Console Vs Console" debate, the fanboys argue until they are blue in the face, fact is some prefer Xbox, some PS4 while a few are enjoying the best of both worlds, again it's different for everyone whether it be the line up of games,
joypad, online service, where their friends are .. .. ..

Getting back to the best graphics, on Xbox One the best looking game for me was definitely Ryse. On the PS4 I thought Infamous had it's stand out moments but overall I thought Killzone was the better looking.

As I said above though, gameplay first for me, if it's matched with eye watering visuals then that's a bonus and I bet when Minecraft releases ( not saying it's a bad looking game ) a lot of people will put more time into this, have a lot more fun than a
lot of games with "SUPERMAN HD VISUALS" ..

 

Lloydy, the console is split into 3 separate partitions though - the 10% of resources taken from the Kinect is only on the gaming side of the console, not the operating side. In a way, you're both right and wrong.

 

yeah if i recall correctly they said the 10% time slice of reserved GPU was also shared between apps such as Snap and onscreen overlays.

The kinect part was specific to skeletal, recognition and joint modeling, not voice commands.

so this allowed developers to access more cycles to allow more data throughput, at a guess.
