Not able to install free gold games after subscription renewal

My gold subscription is renewed for a year weeks back and I can see on the website as well as settings in Xbox one. But when I tried to download the free gold game it is asking me to get gold and taking me to the payment page. Why Microsoft why

They also work with the free subscriptions so people can try out the features & any games there offering before they spend $50 for a year of xbox live gold, But once your sub runs out you will no longer be able to play said game's you download on your xbox one

If you have an xbox 360 and downloaded any of the free xbox 360 game's with gold and your sub runs out you can still play your xbox 360 game's you downloaded even if you don't ever renew for xbox live gold again

xbox one will just lock you out till you renew your subscription and then once your subscription is renewed you can play all your free game's you downloaded & bought for free thru xbox live gold

 

My 1 month gold free trial got canceled

Today, I went to xbox.com and join xbox live gold for 1 month free trial. Microsoft sent me an e-mail confirmation. After that, I went to My Account -> Subscription to cancel the auto-renewal. Then Microsoft sent me an e-mail said that my xbox live
gold subscription was canceled. Now I'm not getting any free gold. I thought that cancel the auto-renewal doesn't mean cancel your gold membership?

Apologies to hear about the issue. There was a service alert up addressing issues similar to you are reporting and should now be resolved. Could you give your Xbox One console a quick power cycle by holding the power button down and give it another shot
after booting up? Keep us posted if you're still hitting any issues!

 

Tried. multiple times hard reboots, login logout. No luck. Can you suggest some other steps, please?

So after spending lots of troubleshooting with the support team, the only thing that worked is I cancelled my sub and resub it.
