Not able to download free games with LiveGold

Why do I have to submit Credit Card details to download my free game within LiveGold?

When trying to download Guacamelee I am promted to give Credit Card deatails to pay zero money.

If I choose not to connect my Credit Card to my account, that must be my choice! I have bought my LiveGold and activated with code.... Reason:

My Xbox regionsetting is UK. My Creditcard Danish. When adding my Credit Card, I can not enter proper ZIP-Code.

Thanks Maxen13 I have checked my parent controls and have the game rating at 12 I have Privacy & Online settings as Custom with the following Not Allowed, Web Browsing, Kinect sharing, Social Network sharing, Friends List, Voice Data Collection, Profile
Viewing, Explicit content, xbox marketing, partner marketing, should I look anywhere else?

Are you trying to download the game via the website or the console? You should be able to download it through the console with no problems. The website requires a payment method to be on file even if it is free content.

 

Thank you for your reply, but that is not quite accurate.

I am trying to download directly to my Xbox one, and it still requires Credit Card details, even if the price is £ 0.00.

I did not have the same problem with other free games, I have them downloaded with no further issues.

Hope this can be solved by ensuring all free games do not prompt Credit Card.

 

After seeing your thread I did notice that it seems to be a common issue right now, but I'm not sure why. I was able to download it last night without a credit card on file so I'm not sure what the issue is.

I just wanted to post on this thread to clarify a few points:

1: The reason why it requires the credit card info is because it is still considered a "purchase" for the license to that content. Example, I sold my xbox 360 but I can still go to xbox.com to purchase a free game with gold and own the license to that game
( I did this with Dark Souls) so I can always install the content if I ever do get the Xbox 360 again.

2: The credit card information isn't required more as the billing information is required. This is still considered a transaction and the console needs the billing information to complete it. You can go to Settings>Payment & Billing>Change Billing Address
and just make sure the information is update. UncagedMammal1 I believe this why you are able to complete the transactions.

I am at work now, so only have access to my online account. Online my billing information is up to date.

When I get home, I will turn on the Xbox to see, if the billing info is updated there as well!

And as a last side note... This has only been a problem for Guacamelee, not the other included games for LiveGold.

Logged on to my Xbox, but not possible for me to update the billing information!!

Same problem as I have with my Credit Card. The address is Danish, and my regionsetting is UK.

But my problem is solved anyway, as I was able to download the game without billing address or Credit Card. Maybe the "Price" for the game has changed from beeing a purchace £ 0,00 to no longer beeing considered a purchace?

I will close this matter, and thank everybody who took the time to answer.
