Not able to download free game through Games with Gold program without adding a card.

I'm trying to download Thief, which is currently free, to my Xbox One, but it keeps asking me to add a card. I've tried from the console, the Xbox site, and the SmartGlass app. When I asked an ambassador about this issue, he/she said that having a card wasn't
required and that I should be able to just download the game. Any solutions?

Can't download free Game without Payment Method and cant add PayPal, please help!

Hi! I got Gold today and tried to download the current Games for Gold game but I cant download it without adding a credit card. When I go to My Account to manage payment methods I can add PayPal or Credit Card but when I try to add my PayPal account it always
says this is not possible right now (tried it today and a few days ago with same error). There are only a few days left until the offer expires. Does anyone know how to fix this?

And why cant you download free games without adding paypal or a credit card, they are free?

Free Xbox 360 games without credit card

Buying free Xbox 360 games from xbox.com has been made too hard! It requires credit card even if product would be free and you can't use your Microsoft Account moneys. They changed this for Xbox One games so you can download them from xbox.com without credit
card but it still need it for Xbox 360 games. Has anyone any ways how to get these Free for Gold games from websites without adding credit card info?

You do need a card on file to download free games.

Also you do need a gold subscription to download it as well.

As the program is called Games with Gold.

You won't be able to download the game anyways without a valid payment method on file (Credit/Debit Card or PayPal Account). With the latest update, the Xbox One made it possible to purchase and download Xbox 360 games straight from the console. However,
this was done by mimicking the Xbox.com store. Therefore, the only way to download the free Games with Gold titles without having to put a payment method on your account is straight through an Xbox 360.
