Not able to complete purchases.

Hello.

I'm not 100% sure I'm posting this concern in the right section of the forums, feel free to move this post or direct me to the right section otherwise.

I'm having some problems regarding buying games, either using my Xbox One console or Xbox.com. Specifically I've been trying to buy The Elder Scrolls III : Morrowind at several different occasions during the last few days, with no success. When asked to
confirm my purchase I simply get the message "Your purchase cannot be completed at this time, please try again", which really doesn't help me figure out what is wrong here.

I have tried using my console, as well as accessing Xbox.com using different computers and my phone, to no avail. At first I figured this issue was just affecting Morrowind, but I have since tried buying Portal 2 instead, with the same result. As both Morrowind
and Portal 2 are backwards compatible games (originally for the Xbox and Xbox 360 respectively) I reccon this might have something to do with my problems. I have however successfully bought Mass Effect, another game originally for the Xbox 360, in the not
that distant past.

I'm paying by credit card, no bonus points or similar redeemable stuff.

Would be greatful for any help!

Not able to purchase Gold

It is the normal practice of Xbox Live to continue service for 2 months after the expiration date. Unfortunately, that means there is an outstanding balance on your account for 2 months of service. My experience has been that you will have to call billing
support to resolve the outstanding balance before you can purchase anything else. It is not a perfect system, but it is what I have seen over the last 2 years time.

If you log into account.microsoft.com and go to services and subscriptions do you see an outstanding balance listed in red? Or is it possible you have an expired payment method listed on the account?

I see nothing listed in services and subscriptions with any kind of balance listed, red or otherwise.

My only listed payment method is the same credit card I use for everyday purchases, in physical stores as well as online with no problems at all. Its expiry date is more than a year into the future.

What I find particulary frustrating with this is the fact that I'm not being told what the problem is, exactly. Just that my purchase "cannot be completed".

I'm assuming they use prepaid points cards for the region they are registered to. Even then, there's no guarantee that purchasing the content on the account will allow you to download it completely. There is some content on Xbox LIVE that is region locked.
There's no way to know what is or isn't. If you purchase something that is region locked, you will not be able to complete the download but you might be able to complete the purchase.

To guarantee your purchase, you'd need to be able to complete it. If the console is in your cart, but you can't complete the purchase, check if there are units left on the Microsoft Store. It is most likely that you can't complete the purchase because there are no more units left.
