Not able to buy 360 'Games with Gold' games

Hey, Everything I try to register the 360 Games With Gold games using the website I get a popup asking for a payment method, even though the game is free.

I have registered my PayPal account, and for games with gold games for the Xbox One I can use this method to get the games. But for the 360 games this method does not show up. Now I'm missing out on Gears of War, next month Borderlands and not to mention
all the games I missed the previous months.

Dirt Showdown (Games with Gold) - unable to buy!

Hi,

I have xbox live gold until January 2017. I was able to buy Killer Istinct for xbox one through the games with gold January using a web browser from my laptop but I am not able to buy Dirt Showdown for the xbox 360 which is also available with games with
gold January. I am not able to do it from my console as I am away from home and the only way I can buy it is to do it via a browser and that is not working.

Can someone look into this please?

Not able to buy xbox 360 games

I have the same issue with purshasing Skate 3. It's also an xbox 360 backward compability game. I'm using PayPal as Payment method and tried already differnt devices and networks.

 

Does your payment option match your account region?

Because when you change the region on the one console you need a matching billing info but this doesn't affect your account region

However 360 requires the billing info to match the account region

So if you are using an French creditcard but have an UK account that won't work

 

Your best option for help with billing issues is support via chat or phone

 

The regions match on both the console and my account. Also I don't want to register a credit card m, I don't even have one. I want to register games for my account that are marked in the store as free, why would I need a paymentoption?

The website requires payment method as it is a marketplace. Although the games are FREE, the store allows us to "purchase" them at a price of $0.00. Doing so means we need a payment method on file to "purchase" these $0.00 games. The only way to bypass having
a payment method registered is to download them straight from an Xbox 360 console.

 

As stated in the topic starter, I have setup Paypal as payment provider and am able to actually buy Xbox One games with this method.

There is no reason to "purchase" free games using a payment provider. It should be possible to link a user and store item without one.

The website states "Free games for paying Gold members", I pay for Xbox Gold but the system is not letting me register the game.

I don't have a xbox 360 anymore, because of the Xbox One. And simply want to register the games so I can play them on my one.

Since your last reply, a new General System Update was released to the Xbox One allowing users to download and purchase Xbox 360 BC titles. Have you tried downloading the games directly from your console since you started this topic? PayPal option should
appear there.

The whole process is extremely awkward as well.. The games don't show up on the Games with Gold view. Have to manually search for the Borderlands game.

Then the Borderlands page has a button "Show price" instead of just showing me the price immediately? What else does it think I want from the store page? But fine, clicking on the button gives me the info it's free.

Trying to "buy" it gives me the same bug as the website, saying I don't have any payment options available even though I have and even though I shouldn't need a payment option for a free store item.

(It's like going to a webshop, adding an item to your basket and having enough store credit to get it for free. Then having to give your bank details so they can bill you for €0.00)

So no, unfortunately I am unable to get my promised free video-game using the website / console even with the latest update.

 

Try again from xbox.com and when you get to the purchase confirmation page, just press on add a new credit card and it will probably ask you to input your billing address again; do so and after that your payment method should show up, if not, just add it
there fully once again.

As xCosmo BOLTz stated above you would either re-enter your PayPal information or a credit card. You need a valid payment option on file to download the free games because the market allows you to "purchase" the game for $0.00 and since you have already
explained you have a PayPal, have you tried re-entering that into the console? The only way around this (mentioned previously) is to download directly from a Xbox 360. The Xbox.com site and the Xbox One will both require a valid payment method on file.

Yes, the problem is. The "Add creditcard" page not only asks for my billing address, but also for a creditcard. And like stated before, I don't have one. So if you're willing to offer yours thanks a lot

Removed account from console, redownloaded profile. Removed paypal as option, added paypal as option.

PayPal / Xbox console and Microsoft account all have the same locale set and billing address matches.

Live chat with support:

"For some reason we are requiring a payment option for free downloads. But it does say Free!"

Don't have a Xbox 360. And do have a valid payment method on file. Still there is a problem.

 

Keep in mind the region of the account isn't tied to the console settings

In order to change it you must use the region migration tool

You can check it at commerce.xbox.com

Using the console to change regions won't work

You can also check with support

 

Region of console / microsoft account and where I am is the same, so not the issue
