Not A Hero: Indie game I regret buying, twice

Over a year ago Not A Hero debuted on Steam. I was on Steam at that time, and I fell for it. Hey, the Bunny Lord is a charismatic character. But this game gives you a couple of easy rounds to pull you in. After that, it's dead hard! It should be easy because
you go into cover and you shoot forward. But that's just it. Try and figure out the patterns of your enemies, and even if you do you need twitch reflexes to get a shot off on them before they get on on you while they go in an out of cover. And for the life
of me I just can't wrap my head about having to stop to reload. It'ßs an action-breaker, you don't want to do it, and the control to do it feels somewhat awkward.

Earlier this year I purchased the game on PS4 thinking, why not give it another go. It's console, maybe it will be different. Nope. I'm just as stuck as I was on Steam. I hate this game.

It's clearly for some people, but I would put them in the minority. And as for those professional video reviews, consider that having all characters unlocked right from the beginning could change the game in your favour. But that is not how the game presents
itself. You can only unlock characters as a reward for progression. So if you're doing no good then well, there's no hope.

You're playing it wrong.

Twice.

It's a cover based shooter so use cover to reload, you can blast enemies away between cover points. It's 100% scripted so every enemy is always in the same spot every time, just learn the positions.

 

I know how to play the game. It just doesn't work for me.

As for buying twice.. Well, I have purchased Shovel Knight on three platforms, because I can, and I wanted to know where it plays the best. Similarly with Another World. Multi-platform. And each one has its control foibles. Another reason for trying a game
again when it gets a port is that the developers may have made unannounced improvements. Plus, being a console, people's expectations regarding game playability are different.
