Normal fan noise coming from newly bought Xbox One S?

Excessive fan sounds are definitely not normal. Your Xbox One S should be pretty quiet. If the noise doesn't seem correct, I'd suggest returning to your local retailer and swapping your console for a new one.

Hi - I recently bought and Xbox one S and can confirm mine is making the same noise- seems to be coming from the fan/fan bearing.

Looking on the web, a few people that have bought a One S recently appear to have 'rattling' fans. People appear to say its not normal however.

I'm going to try to take mine back to the shop I bought it from to see if they will exchange it for another one.

Hello, I have the same exact problem. It is "zzzz" sounding noise when the console is turned off. I bought a new Xbox One S couple of days ago. I tried full shutdown and energy-saving mode and the intermittent BUZZ sound is coming from the integrated PSU.

I would like to know if this is normal as well.

Little update to help people wondering about this noise in the Xbox One S power supply:

I returned the freshly bought Xbox One S back to the store and got a replacement. The same noise is still there, so it must be a normal feature with the Power Supply. If the noise is so loud that you can hear it a couple meters away, then the PSU is faulty.
I can only hear the sound when I come really near to the Xbox.

it was coming from the hard drive. i did an internet seach and the clicking noise was similar to the "hard drive click of death". A failing hard drive.

My cousin's xbox one S made the same clicking noise with no beep, the clicking in his xbox was coming from the fan

the
ventilation for the Xbox One console is good by keeping it free from obstruction. If its hot around the vents, don't worry, as that is normal for cooling.
