Non-responsive face buttons on new xbox elite series 2

Less than a month old elite 2

Consistent non-response IF

Finger is resting on face button and pushing it down-left (down as in the directional pad, not down like a press)(should feel the plastic cap shift in socket). Not entirely uncommon placement and weight for my fingers and I imagine others. Typically happens in more passive games where button contacts are less frantic.

followed by light-moderate pressure press --> extremely high non-response, followed by moderate pressure press --> significant non-response. (if no finger rest mentioned above or hard (to me) press, the button will consistently respond)(can post video if need be)

Occurs with X,A,B buttons only but Y button acts like a champ (sad I'm proud this button is just doing its job)

As someone who has played the exchange roulette with many microsoft products (the things a teacher does for a surface book) I'm simply asking fellow owners if this is common with all elite 2 controllers. If it is, I'll probably deal with it as it's not worth getting a refurbished controller over and over again with secret flaws of its own. Or have to deal with the incredulous dialogue because the repair folk aren't understanding how the situation occurs cause they don't press it as specified.

Also if there's a category for the elite controller in this post option, it's very hard to find.

Hey, mate. Watch the video 3 times and the first time it was enough to say that this is not normal. I don't have an elite 2(yet) but my first Xbox One controller and my Xbox One S controller works great without me having to press the button hard.

I suggest taking advantage of your warranty and ordering another controller.

The warranty only exchanges for another refurbished controller. I would trigger the warranty and order another controller.

Any advice on the warranty situation. (I am past my gamestop defective warranty) I know from experience that the refurbished controllers usually come with more issues. Should I roll the dice or just play on with this controller. Or is there any way to get a brand new controller with my warranty?

This was even a little non-typical as I had to hug my camera to get the shot and it still occurred quite frequently. Usually it's worse.

Hey all,

Just a heads up, finally got a new elite 2 through gamestop. Tried the same thing right out of the box and IT DOES THE SAME THING. So just a warning for all you elite 2 purchasers, there is a lack of input whenever you shift the buttons from their natural resting spot and then press in (as shown in original post video).

This is technically anecdotal but still statistically significant (as both were brand new purchases) so maybe just something to check out when you first purchase one to see if you are willing to put up with. I'm not sure if I'll put up with it myself long term.

I also tried the same test with a regular xbox one controller and there's no lack of input no matter how you shift your weight on the buttons before pressing.

If anyone at microsoft is listening please try to make some changes as your 200 dollar premium product should obviously not have this kind of issue.
