Non-Profane Gamertag was denied.

So basically I went to change my gamertag to the name Wreckage, a name that was not taken yet was denied because your xbox live service rep told me it contained a profane word, "Wreck" in it. How is "Wreck" profane? It is used millions of times a day in
normal conversation relating to accidents, ect... I have been a member of xbox live since day one and have always remained loyal to the brand. All I ask is my gamertag be changed to "Wreckage" a NON-Profane word. And if you cant change it please give me a
really detailed explination as to why the simple word Wreck is Profane and I can not use it. You should change your policy on this word cause it is simply absurd.

"Kuma" is not a profane word by itself. There is a movie by this title as well I think. To be marked as improper the gtag should be so as it is without adding or removing letters or symbols mentally.

I have been trying to acquire the Gamertag "Kuma" but it says that it is not available. When I try to do this on my Xbox One it just goes back to the suggestion screen without saying anything (this is why I figured it was marked as profane). I have contacted
support about this 4 times and finally I was led here. I understand that if you remove a letter it can reference profanity, however, Kuma means Bear in Japanese. Any chance that the Gamertag "Kuma" by itself can be allowed?

I was told by a private message from a XBLPET guy that it was not the right forum for that.

 

It wasn't the right spot... truthfully I don't think you'll get a straight-answer. The powers that be decide to block certain words and that's that.

 

I understand that but it just seems so absurd that wreck is banned. If thats the case why isnt my name banned or the other guy who has the gamertag . Its the same word. If you allow those then just plain Wreckage should be allowed.

 

It's difficult to anticipate and block all the possible phonetic variations of banned words. Truth be told if "wreck" in on the list and someone decided to report your tag for violation of the CoC then you'd receive a forced tag change.

I suggest you have a look in the urban dictionary & you'll see why it isn't allowed.

 

That doesnt mean much because you can almost turn every word into something sexual, so why not ban over half the english language. Like your name has badger in it, I think you know where you can go with that. Urban dictionary is not an excuse.

I wasnt actually getting mad at him, was making a point to the xbox peeps if they look at this. Wasnt ment to be directed at him.

You wont get one.Something like this is down to the enforcement team & they don't read these forums.If it says you can't use the gamertag then that's it.

I agree that some of the prohibited gamertags are a bit silly but rules are rules.
