Non-MS Headsets (mic gain in chat?)

This has continued to frustrate me, and I hope, but do not expect any one from microsoft to chime in.

It seems very much that the audio gain settings for the mic are different in party chat then every where else. It'd be great since Windows 10 is the underlying OS at this point if we could manually adjust that like you can on a computer.

I have tested at least 4 different headsets and earbuds that conform to CTIA standards and have mics and have found that only 1 of the 4, a pair of Samsung earbuds that came with a phone, seem to get picked up sufficiently in party chat for people to hear me
well. What is really curious and makes me think it is something to do with settings is if I go into any apps or anything else that use the mic, the pickup is just fine. It very much makes it seem like party chat behaves differently (like it's not gain boosting)
then everything else.

I have adjusted the mic setting. I see this using the chat adapter and plugged directly into a Elite controller. So I don't really think it's hardware.

So...do I have a question...well, for the community, has anyone found any third party passive headsets where the mic isn't "too quiet" in party chat? The only full headset I've got that works well is a powered Turtle Beach one that I don't think reproduces
sound very well, so I'd like to find a headset to use. (I've tried mid-range Logitech headsets, a few different earbuds, and a fairly nice pair of harmon kardons, which sound great, but inline mic is too quiet...)

For Microsoft, is party chat mic set differently, or the exposure more more direct mic settings would be fantastic. Or a solution from someone...maybe an inline mic amp, but I haven't found one really so far...

Polk 4Shot microphone issue and the headset adapter

Same issue seen here on the 4 shot. Game audio is superb but the microphone has no gain. If I take off the headset and hold the mic to my mouth my party can hear me clearly. This suggests the mic is either doing too much noise canceling an/or the mic gain
is waaay too low.

Anyways, Polk has made an official statement on this.

People on the Polk forums have tested and confirmed the mic works great on non-controller use such as cellphone, Xbox Skype, PC, etc. This troubleshooting leaves the problem with the adapter and and not the headset.

Waiting impatiently for this headset investment to fully realize the design it was intended to do.

 

Xbox One controller disconnects when headset/and adapter plug in

Been using the Polk 4 Shot headset now for 3 weeks and not only getting the random disconnect issue, but the Mic gain is pathetic as well.

Can't say anything on the Polk forums without their fanboys going to town on you, MS/Xbox say speak to Polk and Polk haven't given any timeline on a fix.
