Noisy XB1 PSU driving me craaaaazy!

I'm on my 3rd PSU (my store was good enough to swap them, twice). They've all been noisy. They drive me MAD when the room is quiet. At night I even have to turn up the TV volume more than I prefer to drown out the PSU whirring/buzzing drone. ArrgrrrGrrrr!

It is KILLING the whole Xbox experience...so much so I'm considering taking it back and getting a PS4. What's the point in buying the XB1 for the Kinect and Instant On when you can't use it because it's competing with your fridge to see who's the noisiest?

I've tried EVERYTHING ... including trying the XB1 in another house completely, just in case my house was wired funny. It's not. The PSU and its dodgy fan is just a cheap piece of junk.

SO FRUSTRATED AND ANNOYED!!

I'd love my XB1 if the PSU was as quiet as the console. Even nearly as quiet as the console. Instead I'll be recommending everyone get a PS4 instead and forget about the whole Kinect Instant One PSU failure.

I wish there was a cure. Do quiet PSUs actually exist? Or is it a urban myth?

Are you happy with your Xbox One?

The One is a definite upgrade on the 360 ... but the PSU (power supply unit) absolutely SUCKS and is a let down to the whole package. I've had 3 PSUs ... ALL noisy as in comparison to the XB1. Pretty annoying.

I took mine back to the retailer because of the same noise problems.

I'm going to wait for the pending Xbox One slims which will resolve the heat and noise problem issues. Quiet consoles do exist, apparently the Kinect bundled consoles are most reliable.

 

Have you heard when the Slims are likely to be released?

My retailer would probably take mine back also as I took out insurance on this. That's how I changed the PSU both times.

It's a crying shame that the PSU makes me annoyed with the XB1, rather than loving it and spreading the word.

It's plugged into a wall. Trust me, I have read EVERY piece of advice EVERYWHERE and tried EVERYTHING. Nothing works. It's the PSU --- all 3 of them! Argh

 

Mine decided today to refomat my external HDD all on its own. Got a nice notification. Deleted all my personal files along with movies and shows, and years of pictures. Thinkin PS4 is the wayy to go

 

That's nutso the XB1 deleting everything. Sucks. But PSU - Power Supply Unit ... doubt that's responsible

 

Take it back to the retailer. I had no insurance but I had a 12 months warranty which comes with every console. I told them 'Microsoft told me to return it back to the retailer' and they accepted this reason.

The Slim Xbox One is not a rumour. It's coming in early 2016. I refuse to own a noisy, faulty launch console. The chirping, grinding fans are a wide issue and it can cause your console to overheat. Mine got incredibly hot after 1 hour too.
