My hope is that enough voices speaking up could influence a business decision.

The service is restored. However, thread moderators, please do not let this thread float off into obscurity. Please bring it to a managers attention as I believe we make some valid points about flaws with this system and the consumer base deserves a complete
and unequivocal easily understood response which demonstrates the corrections/improvements being made.

Resetting the router in your home does ZERO to the service state on the server side and has no bearing on the issue. Nice to see that the moment the service is restored the forum support magically appears. Even if it is with a useless answer.

I don't see how an officially designated Representative of the forum providing at best instructive actions that serve no purpose other than demonstrating responsiveness is polite? The reason I mention it is that in the last 4 hours I personally have provided
more valuable replies than the community representatives and Microsoft employees combined during a major service outage. As a former Microsoft employee I KNOW these forums get reviewed for issues that might not otherwise be exposed to Project Managers.

They have a chance to get ahead of this IF they take action now. Otherwise the user base will flee the platform enmass for a more reliable product with actual support. If my pointing it out is rude please understand my motivation for feeling the response
    is appropriate.

ProGamer, I apologize for bruising your ego earlier but to answer your question I have 19 years experience in the IT industry, have worked as a Technical Lead for escalation issues at Microsoft and I'm currently employed by a wholely owned subsidiary of
Microsoft designing and managing enterprise environments based on their technologies. I am pretty familiar with what goes on behind the scenes and the service level agreements which dictate what each participant can expect from the service. 4 hours without
an update for a Sev A is not even close to acceptable.

"All of my downloaded apps and games on 360 would at least allow me local access because I could still sign in locally."

You can on the Xbox One as well. You have to go to Settings - Network - Go offline, which puts the entire console into offline mode, then you can sign in and play your games. You can still unlock achievements, although they won't "pop" until the next time
    you connect to Live.

I have suggested that MS do something to make people more aware of this, because the setting is a little buried. If no network connection is detected or Live is down, it should pop up a message saying "do you want to go into offline mode?" or words to that
    effect.

Small game developers do not have the same traffic that MS does so their servers wouldn't be down as much anyway. MS gets a lot of traffic all the time. Not entirely sure how you can compare MS to a small game company, lol.

Some valid points such as? That you demand an instant update at all times, and that Xbox Live never go down? Or that we all rise up and take a strike against Xbox until they figure out how to keep it online 24/7 365 days. Please repeat these valid points,
in a concise manner. The only valid point I see is the one before me that has the pop up informing you of issues with Xbox Live and asking if you'd like to go offline.

So you worked for tech support, and now you're complaining about it? I'm sure you see how this correlates to those of us that are actually reading this. Since you know what goes on behind the scenes then you know they aren't just sitting there twiddling
their thumbs doing nothing while we all sit here and wait. Being nice/not rude to those that respond whether helpful or not, will help you to go a lot further.

  15. Hey there, lW00DYl! I'm very sorry to see any connection issues. To help clarify some things, Sigma is correct in how to access your games offline, so I have verified that post.

For full details on how we work on the forums, please check out
this thread. Hopefully that provides some insight on how Official Support scans the threads.

If you would like give us feedback about how accessible the Offline feature is, I suggest posting up on our
Feedback site. This would be the best avenue to get your voice heard.

If you need assistance with any other support issue, please post up a new thread detailing what you're running into and troubleshooting you've completed. This way our community can get you the individual support that works best on the forums. No Warning that no Xbox Live Core Services = Xbox One is useless? :) Thanks for
understanding, and I hope I was able to clear up a few items for you.

I'm getting tired of this too. I'm ordinarily a PC gamer but I got convinced to switch to console and I'm not feeling good about it now. So much downtime in less than 2 months is ridiculous, and without notice or status updates. You could expect this
kind of service from small game developers on a PC game, but not from Microsoft? Show some class....

The hardest part of this for me is the the fault is with us the consumer base. We accept this poor level of service so much so that the businesses actually count on you getting so frustrated you work it out on your own or deal with the inconvenience. The
only real way to be heard is to take your money to a competitor with no better practices. And the cherry on top is we PAY for this privilege.
